Job Summary
STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking a Network Monitoring System Engineer II on behalf of our client in Woodlawn MD. This role is responsible for designing implementing and optimizing enterprise network monitoring solutions that enhance visibility reliability and operational efficiency across complex IT environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong Linux expertise deep knowledge of network monitoring technologies and experience driving operational excellence through automation event correlation and proactive monitoring strategies.
Key Responsibilities

Design implement and enhance enterprise network monitoring solutions to improve infrastructure visibility and performance.

Develop and maintain event correlation alarm management and root cause analysis strategies across complex network environments.

Optimize monitoring platforms and workflows to reduce alert fatigue and improve actionable incident response.

Implement service-aware monitoring capabilities that align infrastructure events with business and operational impact.

Integrate monitoring platforms with logging analytics and security tools to support enterprise operations.

Develop monitoring standards governance practices and performance optimization strategies.

Identify and implement automation opportunities using scripting and APIs to improve operational efficiency.

Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex network and system issues.

Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve monitoring effectiveness and service reliability.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members when needed.
Required Qualifications
-
10 years of experience in network monitoring network engineering systems engineering or NOC operations within large enterprise environments.

Strong hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting Linux systems.

Experience with enterprise monitoring platforms such as SMARTS DX NetOps ScienceLogic SL1 IBM Netcool or similar solutions.

Strong understanding of network monitoring protocols and technologies including SNMP NetFlow/IPFIX telemetry and syslog.

Experience with network infrastructure technologies including WAN/LAN firewalls load balancers and hybrid cloud environments.

Proficiency in Python Perl and Shell scripting.

Experience integrating monitoring platforms with analytics logging or SIEM solutions.

Strong troubleshooting problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced mission-critical environment.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or government environments.

Familiarity with observability and AIOps platforms such as Dynatrace Datadog Elastic or LogicMonitor.

Experience developing automation solutions using APIs and modern scripting frameworks.

Knowledge of Zero Trust architectures and enterprise logging strategies.
