Job Summary
Job Title: Network Automation Engineer (Fiber / Access Networks)
Location: REMOTE
Rate- OPEN (C2C/W2/FTE)
Contract Type- Long Term
Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Network Automation Engineer with deep expertise in fiber access technologies and strong Python development skills. The ideal candidate will work directly with network devices analyze real-time configurations and develop automation solutions to optimize operations in a telecom access network environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with access network devices (ONTs and OLTs) to analyze configurations and operational data
- Develop and implement Python-based automation scripts based on live device insights
- Troubleshoot and optimize fiber access network performance
- Interface with central office and customer premises equipment environments
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve network efficiency and automation coverage
- Ensure secure and compliant access to network infrastructure
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- ONT (Optical Network Terminal) infrastructure (primarily in central office environments)

- OLT (Optical Line Terminal) systems at customer or field locations
- Proven experience in Python programming for automation and scripting
- Ability to independently access devices interpret configurations and develop solutions
- Familiarity with telecom access network deployments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Nokia and/or Calix network equipment 1
- Background working on Verizon-like environments or similar (e.g. VNM-type roles) 1
- Knowledge of network provisioning troubleshooting and lifecycle management
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Candidate Profile
- Highly hands-on and comfortable working directly with network devices
- Self-driven and capable of translating observations into automation solutions
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

- Onshore candidates are preferred to minimize access clearance constraints though offshore candidates may be considered depending on requirements
