Job Summary
NRI North America is looking for a qualified Network Architect/Administrator to join our professional services team supporting a K-12 school district environment.This roleis responsible forthe operation design implementation maintenance and security of the districts computer network infrastructure including LAN/WAN Internet network servers voice and video systems and related security services. The position also supervises network technical support and security staff and provides advanced troubleshooting with an emphasis on system reliability service quality and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Design implementmaintain and oversee the operation of district network infrastructure systems including security data voice video and cabling.
- Evaluate analyze and resolve problems within network infrastructure and security systems designing and reviewing solutions that minimize delays and maximize support for curriculum and administrative systems.
- Assess technology service availability and recommend options for redundancy and failover.
- Serve as the lead technical expert for complex network and security segmentation issues that cannot be resolved by other technical support staff.
- Supervise network technical support staff by providing documentation direction training andassistance; ensure quality control and customer satisfaction; perform appraisals and coordinate personnel actions with technology leadership.
- Research current network and end-user device technologies andassistwith the District Technology Plan Disaster Recovery Plan E-Rate Telecommunication Equity Aid and technology grants or funding.
- Review test anddeterminewhether technology systems and network hardware or software components meet quality and compatibility standards.
- Use network modeling and analysis to estimate traffic growth and support long-term infrastructure planning.
- Select equipment for purchase or inclusion on approved standards lists.
- Use monitoring systems tomaintainnetwork infrastructure andidentifypotential design or reliability issues.
- Plan and budget for future equipment and software acquisitions or upgrades using TCO and ROI models to support recommendations.
- Develop technical specifications bids and requests for proposals; evaluate submissions and recommend vendors.
- Maintain district-wide standards for classrooms network infrastructure rooms and data wireless voice and video cabling; verify installationscomply withcontracts and cabling standards.
- Lead projects and assign duties within the Network Infrastructure area coordinating communication procurement vendors and project completion.
- Develop custom software and automation to streamline infrastructure network phone and security workflows including equipment configuration and user service changes.
- Prepare monthly written reportsidentifyingmajor system status failures deficiencies and potential issues.
- Develop and maintaina professional development plan.
- Perform other related district technology duties as needed.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- 2 to 5 years of experience supporting Cisco network infrastructure including telephony switches wireless ISE or equivalent network support experience in a small to medium-sized organization.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of network services and related data voice and video communications including LAN and WAN.
- Network operations and hardwarecurrentlysupported by the district.
- VoIP systems support.
- Networking protocols including TCP/IP IPv6 VLANs routing and switching.
- Network hardware and software.
- Network security cloud technologies educational technology and wireless networking.
- Educational technology standards and best practices.
- LAN and WAN hardware and software switches servers and multi-layer devices.
- Network design cabling standards the OSI model and network protocols.
- Identifyingand resolving connectivity performance and security issues.
- Use of test equipment and diagnostic software including protocol analyzers to assemble evaluate and repair systems.
- Technical writing and documentation including diagrams procedures and policies.
- Two or more of the following Cisco certifications: CCNA Routing and Switching CCNA Wireless CCNP or CCNA Voice.
- Prior K-12 work experience.
