- Degree:Mastersdegree in nursing.
- Education:Graduatefromanacademicprogramwithin the nursing specialtyfield of study that isaccreditedby aregional ornationalnursingaccreditingagencyrecognizedby theAccreditation CommissionforEducation inNursing(ACEN) or the Commission on CollegiateNursingEducation(CCNE).
- Certification:Certified in the specialtyas aNurse Practitionerby theAmericanNurses Credentialing Center(ANCC)AmericanAcademyofNurse Practitioners(AANP)or therecognized nationalnursingcertification organizationfor the specialtyarea ofpracticeasappropriate(forexampleNational CertificationBoardof PediatricNurse PractitionersandNursesAmericanNursesAssociationNational Certification Corporationfor theObstetricGynecologicandNeonatal Specialties) Basic LIfe Support andadditionally are required to have Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) at time ofCredentialing.
- Experience:Minimum of two(2) years experienceand able to meetclinicalcompetencyrequirements specified in the Service-specificcredentialing instructions. Able todemonstrate clinical competency within the past two years in the required clinicaldiscipline.
- Licensure: Currentfullactiveand unrestricted licenseas a Nurse Practitioner.
- Shall possess sufficient initiative interpersonal relationship skills and social sensitivity such that NP can relate constructively to a variety of patients from diverse backgrounds.
Core Duties:
- Provide afullrangeof medical services within the scope of Neonatal services to all patients and eligible beneficiaries.
- Provideindependent primary comprehensive and therapeutic health care services to include examining assessing diagnosing and treating patients in the Mother Baby Unit (MBU) and the Special Care Nursery (SCN).
- Attendall deliveries in Labor and Delivery.
- Performa systematic physical examination and interpret abnormal and normal findings. Initiateemergency care as appropriate.
- Orderand interpretrelated laboratory and diagnostic tests. Discriminatebetween normal and abnormal findings in order to make a nursing diagnosis regarding physical emotional or social disabilities.Developa problem list if indicated implementing a therapeutic plan for each problem.
- Prescribemedications approved by the Therapeutics Agent Board.
- Admitnewborns from clinics for phototherapy and provides outpatient care for weight and bilirubin checks as needed.
- Orderand/or performpertinent diagnostic test; Analyzethe data collected to determine health status; Formulatea problem list; developand implementwith the individual family a plan of care to promote maintain and restore health; Evaluatethe patients
response to healthcare provided and the effectiveness of the care with the individual and his/her family and modifies the plan and intervention as needed. - NNP is responsible for all labs and radiographs ordered.
- Collaboratewith other healthcare professionals in meeting individual healthcare needs. Referindividuals and families to other healthcare professionals as appropriate. Record all pertinent data about the patient including history and physical examination problems identified interventions provided results of care and plans for follow-up or referral. Coordinatethe services required to meet individual and family needs for health care.
- Usestandard of care treatment Algorithms.
- Perform within the scope of clinical privileges granted by the MTF.
- Workload includes either scheduled or emergency requirements for care.
- Attend staff meetings to providecase discussioncontinuingeducationandcontinuous quality improvementand safety.
- Responsible for the development of comprehensive treatment plans in accordance with protocols mutually established by the NP and physician supervisor. Also responsible for delivery of treatment within the personnel and equipment capabilities of the MTF provision of mandated nursing surveillance and preventive services and the quality and timeliness of treatment records and reports required to document procedures performed and care provided.
- May be trained to perform circumcisions if desired and once deemed proficient clinical privileges will be obtained.
- Maintainstatistical records of his/her clinical workload participatein provider and nursing education programs and clinical staff quality assurance functions as prescribed by the MTF Commanding Officer.
- Prepareall records and reports as may be required in support of services rendered and as required by the MTF Standard Operating Procedures Federal Law or Army Regulation. NP shall be responsible for the content and correctness of all reports and shall verify the content and correctness of all reports by validating its contents the same day as the
patients examination occurs.

- As soon as possible pending Federal Security Clearance process completion (typically 4-6 weeks after initiation)
Schedule:
- NPwill work in clinic providing 24-hour coverage (Shifts are 7a - 7a).
