Job Summary
Day shift Monday - Friday 6:00 am to 4:30 pm
Night Shift Monday - Thursday 4:00 pm to 4:30 am
PTO upon hire Medical Dental and Vision Benefits are offered on the first day of the next month after hire 401(K) after 6 months
Overview: As a NDT Technician II/CWI for Keel Midwest you will be responsible for inspections and techniques according to various industry codes and standards specific to welding in a manufacturing setting. As such ideal candidates will be certified as a Weld Inspect and/or a Level II Nondestructive Technician. On the job training is provided and is frequent and necessary for this role.
Job Functions:
- Performing Nondestructive Tests and evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and record results.
- Level II must be capable of interpreting welds made from various processes according to but not limited to ASME ANSI API AWS codes along with interpreting customer specifications.
- May be responsible for on-the-job training and guidance of Trainees and Assistants.
- Organize and report results to appropriate stakeholders.
- Ensure parts are inspected to the proper specifications.
- Daily production requirements as assigned.
- Ensuring high quality of workmanship.
- Maintaining personnel training logs and related testing information.
- Proper use of equipment and completion of daily logs performance checks as assigned.
Physical Demands: Frequent standing sitting bending stooping and twisting. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance.
Work Environment: Typical welding/fabrication shop floor with fumes from welding and risk of eye flash. Welding helmets eye protection and ear protection are required along with safety toed boots. Exposure to debris/particulates moving equipment and high temperatures is frequent and there is risk of sustain high temperatures depending on weather conditions.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 5 years experience in welding and/or non-destructive testing.
- OJT hours or previous Level II certification preferred in VT MT and PT.
- Strong Mechanical Aptitude experience in reading & understanding technical data and drawings
- Well organized with good communication abilities industrious hardworking and possessing sound problem solving abilities.
- Must also be capable of passing vision/color testing.
- Preferences: Level II NDT Technician working in an aerospace related safety sensitive position must be capable of meeting: All specified requirements as specified in CFR 14 part 145.159 (as revised) for certified repairman. Also the standards and requirements as established for an FAA approved drug & alcohol testing as administered by the employer for which the repairman certificate is being issued. Ultrasonic Testing and Radiographic Testing experience preferred.
