Job Description:

This is a Federal Work Study (FWS) position

The Native/Indigenous Admissions Specialist will support the Office of Admissions in promoting Onondaga Community College to prospective Native/Indigenous students and families. The role is ideal for a student who is passionate about higher education enjoys engaging with people and wants hands-on experience and recruitment processes.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in planning campus tours open houses Center for Native/Indigenous Students Tours OCC Haudenosaunee Arts Fest and other recruitment events.
  • Serve as a tour guide and along with Native/Indigenous Admissions Coordinator provide campus tours to prospective Native/Indigenous Students and families.
  • Assist in responding to prospective student inquiries via email phone and in person.
  • Support data entry filing and other administrative tasks related to prospective student records.
  • Help prepare admission materials such as packets brochures and mailings.
  • Contribute to social media and digital outreach methods.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

  • Must have a valid FAFSA on file
  • Must have a financial need as demonstrated by the FAFSA
  • Must be matriculated into a program
  • Attending at least half-time (6 credit hours)
  • Maintain satisfactory progress (SAP) towards the completion of their program
Additional Information:

  • Pay Rate:
    • Starting rate of $16.00 for new Federal Work Studies.
    • Starting rate of $17.00 for returning Federal Work Studies
  • Hours of Operations: Monday-Friday 8:30am- 4:30pm
