National Sales Engineer
Industry: Telecom Infrastructure Data Centers & Energy Storage Systems
Alamon Inc. is seeking a National Sales Engineerto drive sales and support service delivery across the communications data center utility and energy storage markets. Blending technical expertise with strong customer engagement you will develop and sell advanced solutions involving communication materials power systems and infrastructure this pivotal role you will align customer needs with Alamons capabilities to drive revenue growth and build long-term partnerships.
Position Summary:
The National Sales Engineer is responsible for driving sales and supporting service delivery of materials and equipment across communications data center utility and energy storage markets. This role combines technical expertise with customer engagement to develop sell and support solutions involving communication materials power systems and infrastructure equipment.
The position plays a critical role in aligning customer needs with Alamons product offerings and service capabilities to drive revenue growth and establish long-term partnerships.
This role reports to the Director of Sales and Service.
Key Responsibilities
Sales of Materials & Equipment
  • Drive national sales of communication materials DC power systems battery systems data center equipment and energy storage solutions
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across carriers data centers utilities EPC firms and infrastructure providers
  • Grow revenue through new customer acquisition and expansion of existing accounts
  • Support pricing strategies to ensure competitiveness and margin performance
  • Maintain a strong and consistent sales pipeline focused on materials and equipment opportunities
  • Responsible for maintaining a minimum 15% GP margin floor on all projects to ensure company profitability and incentive eligibility.
Technical Sales Support & Solution Development
  • Provide technical expertise in product selection system configuration and equipment integration
  • Develop proposals quotes and scopes of work for materials and equipment sales
  • Support RFP/RFQ responses with accurate technical and commercial information
  • Partner with sales teams to position solutions that meet customer requirements and industry standards

Service & Execution Alignment
  • Coordinate with operations and service teams to ensure successful delivery and installation of sold equipment
  • Align sales commitments with service capabilities timelines and project execution requirements
  • Support project handoff ensuring clarity in scope materials and technical expectations
  • Assist in resolving technical or service-related issues during and after delivery
Customer & Account Management
  • Serve as a primary technical and commercial point of contact for customers
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts across target industries
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through responsive support and service coordination
  • Support long-term account growth through repeat materials and equipment sales
Vendor & Product Management
  • Work closely with OEMs manufacturers and distributors to support product sales and availability
  • Stay current on product lines pricing and technical specifications
  • Assist in product selection and ensure compatibility with customer requirements
  • Provide market feedback to vendors based on customer needs
CRM & Reporting
  • Utilize CRM to manage pipeline opportunities and forecasting
  • Maintain accurate records of quotes sales activity and customer interactions
  • Support reporting and continuous improvement of sales processes and workflows
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience (Engineering Technology or related field preferred)
  • 510 years of experience in sales engineering technical sales or materials/equipment sales
  • Strong experience selling telecom data center or power infrastructure equipment
  • Knowledge of DC power systems battery technologies or energy storage solutions preferred
  • Experience working with OEMs distributors or channel partners
  • Proven ability to support and close technical sales opportunities
  • CRM experience (HubSpot preferred)
  • Strong communication negotiation and customer engagement skills

Compensation
  • Competitive base salary plus performance-based commission and annual profit-sharing tied to revenue and margin growth.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to climb a ladder and work at heights.
  • Be able to work in tight spaces and stairwells.
  • Must have physical strength balance hand-eye coordination and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. at a time.
  • Must be able to ride in a vehicle for extended periods of time to travel to and from job sites.
  • Ability to work in different temperatures and through changing weather conditions.
  • Must be able to traverse all areas of the Jobsite. This may include walking climbing reaching bending crawling or stretching.
  • Ability to clearly distinguish colors shades and brightness when working with multi-colored cablings such as twisted pair copper and fiber optic cable.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and use practical judgment while working through job assignments.
Work Environment:
  • This position requires visiting Alamon customer site facilities nationwide travel is required.
  • Must be able to work in enterprise educational warehouse and manufacturing settings.
  • Indoor and outdoor work will be based off the scope of the contract.
  • Exposure to dust odors gases vapors varying noise levels and wet or slick surfaces may be possible.
  • When appropriate wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with Company standards and governmental regulations.
Travel Requirements:
  • Lodging and transportation is covered by the company when traveling and staying overnight for work when required.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle insurance and internet access.
