About the Role:

A highly respected full-service law firm with a nationally recognized public law practice is seeking a Municipal Land Use Associate with 4 6 years of experience to join its growing Northern California team. This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney who is passionate about land use zoning environmental compliance and public agency representation.

The successful candidate will work closely with cities counties special districts developers and other stakeholders on complex land use and development matters. From project inception through entitlement and permitting you will play a key role in helping clients navigate regulatory challenges advance development goals and achieve successful project outcomes.

This position offers meaningful client interaction sophisticated legal work and the opportunity to collaborate with experienced practitioners who are leaders in municipal law land use and environmental matters. Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on land use zoning planning entitlement and development matters.
  • Conduct land use due diligence and assess development opportunities for new and redevelopment projects.
  • Assist clients throughout the permitting and entitlement process.
  • Develop strategic approaches to help clients achieve project and development objectives.
  • Advise public agencies developers and other stakeholders on regulatory and compliance issues.
  • Analyze and interpret planning zoning and municipal regulations.
  • Provide guidance regarding CEQA NEPA and other environmental review and compliance requirements.
  • Draft legal memoranda agreements applications and land use-related documents.
  • Conduct legal research and provide practical business-oriented solutions to complex issues.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients regarding project status and legal developments.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice areas on sophisticated development and public law matters.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
  • 4 6 years of land use zoning and development-related legal experience.
  • Experience handling land use due diligence permitting and entitlement matters.
  • Strong knowledge of planning and zoning laws.
  • Experience with CEQA NEPA and other environmental compliance regulations.
  • Transactional experience is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated interest in public agency representation.
  • Admission to the California State Bar and good standing.
  • Excellent legal writing drafting analytical and research skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and client relationship management abilities.
  • Self-motivated collaborative and capable of managing multiple matters effectively.
