Job Summary

JP Logistics & Consulting LLC (JPLC) is looking for a full-time Motor Vehicle Mechanic Lead to support Picatinny Arsenal LRC Maintenance Supply and Transportation services that support the installations mission.


Salary:$ 41.97 per hour


Start Date: August 30 2026


Place of Performance: Picatinny NJ


Hours of Operation: The core hours for the LRC are 0700-1530 Monday-Friday/ except federal holidays. May be required to work outside of core hours as required.


Duties and Responsibilities:

The MotorVehicle Mechanic repairs rebuilds or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles busestrucks or tractors. Work involves most of the following: Diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required; replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings bearings or other engine parts; grinding and adjusting valves; rebuilding carburetors; overhauling transmissions; and repairing fuel injection lighting and ignition general the work of the Motor Vehicle Mechanic requires rounded training and experience usuallyacquiredthrough a formal apprenticeship or equivalent.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Diagnosing the source of trouble anddeterminingthe extent of repairsrequired.
  • Replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings bearings or other engine parts; grinding and adjusting valves rebuilding carburetors; overhauling transmissions; and repairing fuel injection lighting and ignition systems.
  • Determinesthe general condition of vehicles or equipment the nature of malfunctions and the extent of needed repairs using equipment such as aligning machines test equipment gauges oscilloscopes stroboscopes dynamometers wheel balancing etc.
  • Checks condition and replaces all fluids coolants and lubricants as needed. Uses hoists hand tools power tools and power equipment such as valve refining machines brake drum lathes aligning machines etc.
  • Maintains and cleans tools and equipment. Performs general preventive maintenance as assigned.


Marginal Functions:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for conforming to all safe work practices and procedures.
  • Responsible for keepingthe workarea clean and orderly.
  • Aids lower-classificationemployees.

Qualifications:

  • Four years experience as an automotive or heavy equipment mechanic in an acknowledged commercial or governmental repair program.
  • Must have full knowledge of and the ability to troubleshoot and repair both gasoline- and diesel-powered internal combustion engines associated with power trains air and hydraulic brake systems and all other vehicularcomponentparts.
  • Must be able to read andcomprehendtechnical manuals and publications to interpret mechanical specifications tolerance limits and troubleshooting and repair techniques.
  • Mustpossessa valid state drivers licenseand be able to obtainan applicablemilitary drivers license within30 days.
  • May require CDL endorsements for equipment/vehiclesoperated.
  • Formal certificationis highlydesirable.
  • Some positions may require an individual to pass an annual physical examination.
  • Specific positions may require the individual topossessor obtain a security clearance and/or pass ability to pass a background investigation to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Common Access Card.


Education:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
