Job Summary

TheAssociate Director/Director Commercial Engagement Operationsis responsible for leading and evolving key commercial engagement capabilities across Vertex. This role oversees the operational strategy governance and day-to-day management of core engagement channels and programs includingSpeaker Programs Exhibits & Displays Sponsorships and Charitable Contributions in support of Commercial business units and therapeutic areas.

This position partners cross-functionally to ensure activities are planned executed and continuously improved in alignment with business objectives compliance requirements and enterprise meeting and engagement strategies. The role currently has direct accountability forSpeaker Program contractingandfield-based/regional Exhibit & Display activities with scope designed to expand over time to include broaderspeaker program operationsand more centralizedconference exhibit and logistics management as business needs evolve.

This is a highly collaborative leadership role requiring close partnership with Commercial Marketing Operations Compliance Legal Finance Medical Procurement and external vendors. The individual in this role will help shape scalable processes strengthen operational excellence and build future-ready capabilities that support business growth stakeholder experience and fiscal accountability.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee day-to-day execution of current in-scope responsibilities includingspeaker program contractingandregional/field-based exhibit and display support.
  • Build scalable operating models that can expand to support broaderspeaker program request managementconference logistics andcentralized engagement operationsover time.
  • Provide leadership coaching and best practices to team members and managers to drive consistency effectiveness and operational excellence.

Strategy and Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and enhance processes structures and planning systems to support commercial objectives operational efficiency and fiscal accountability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service delivery simplify workflows and strengthen the stakeholder experience across engagement channels.
  • Monitor industry trends benchmarking and evolving business needs to recommend enhancements in policy process technology and operating model.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to theHead of Marketing Operationsand other business leaders by providing recommendations on future-state capabilities and operational improvements.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to understand emerging business needs and align operational support accordingly.
  • Influence business leaders and stakeholders across Commercial Marketing Compliance Legal Finance Procurement and Medical to deliver business results.
  • Ensure communications sales literature reprints promotional items convention graphics and related materials are appropriate aligned and compliant.

Financial and Systems Oversight

  • Oversee budgets contracting processes and financial reconciliation associated with in-scope programs and engagements utilizing operational controls.
  • Provide oversight of supporting technologies and systems with an emphasis on efficiency user experience reporting and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required.
  • Experience in thepharmaceutical or biotech industrysupporting Commercial or Marketing organizations.
  • Familiarity with speaker program systems event management platforms contract lifecycle processes and related operational technologies.
  • Experience supporting conference planning exhibit logistics or meeting operations at regional and/or national levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes and operational workflows.
  • Strong understanding of compliance-sensitive environments and the importance of governance documentation and controls.

Pay Range:

$154700 - $232100

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors including skills competencies experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
