Position Overview

The Mold Prepper / Mold Puller is responsible for preparing molds for production supporting fiberglass lamination processes and safely removing molded components from production tooling. This role plays a critical part in ensuring molds are maintained to quality standards products are released without damage and production schedules are achieved efficiently and safely. The position requires attention to detail knowledge of fiberglass manufacturing processes and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Functions:

Mold Preparation & Production Support

  • Prepare deck and component molds for production by cleaning detailing waxing and inspecting mold surfaces.
  • Detail deck runners and mold surfaces to ensure readiness for gel coat application and fiberglass lamination processes.
  • Verify mold condition prior to production and identify defects wear or damage that could impact product quality.
  • Assist with mold maintenance activities and communicate repair needs to supervisors or maintenance teams.
  • Maintain proper mold release systems and preparation standards to support efficient production flow.

Mold Pulling & Material Handling

  • Remove finished decks and fiberglass components from molds using approved methods and equipment.
  • Utilize forklifts hoists trams and other material handling equipment to move molds tooling and finished products safely.
  • Inspect pulled parts for defects damage or quality concerns and communicate findings to leadership.
  • Assist with staging molds and production materials to support daily manufacturing requirements.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor mold and tooling conditions to ensure products meet company quality standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve mold preparation part release processes safety practices and production efficiency.
  • Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate communication regarding quality issues production concerns and equipment needs.

Teamwork & Collaboration

  • Work closely with Laminators Gel Coat Operators Finish Technicians and Supervisors to achieve production goals.
  • Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude when responding to changing production priorities.
  • Support cross-functional operations and perform additional duties as assigned to meet business objectives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to work a 10 hour shift standing bending reaching. As well as climbing on and through stairs molds and staging throughout the duration of your shift.
  • Moderate lifting ability up to 50 lbs.
  • Have the flexibility to work overtime both planned and unplanned to meet company goals.
  • Must adhere to all quality standards and adhere to new standards as processes evolve.
  • Must demonstrate record of dependability and reliability with prior work or professional experience.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work well with teams professionals.
  • Understand and follow verbal and written directions.
  • Ability to work in close proximity to co-workers and work in areas with limited space.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced noisy environment across multiple departments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of boat building fiberglass composites or related manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Skills in forklift overhead hoist computer fiberglass and/or gel-coat applications preferred.
  • 3 years of manufacturing experience. Marine industry experience highly preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Will be required to work in a non-air-conditioned area.
  • Regularly required to work at heights on platforms lifting parts and pieces up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in a fast paced noisy environment.

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $20.90 to $23.65 hourly. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills relevant experience business needs and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidates qualifications and the business context.
