The overall function of this position is to have knowledge and experience to skillfully operate and maintain assigned heavy equipment owned or operated by Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development during Maintenance Operations. This position is located in District 05/Unit720 of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to the Highway Foreman 2.
- Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in mobile equipment operations.

- Job Duties and Other Information
- Job Duties:
- Operates lowboy which include a variety of tractor-trailer combinations.
- Operates the heavy equipment as needed such as asphalt distributor (truck mounted) backhoes frontend loaders motor graders etc.
- Perform duties as directed such as shoveling asphalt digging footings for setting concrete forms placing traffic control devices delivering loading and unloading materials and/or equipment flagging traffic operating power and/or hand tools etc.
- Performs minor repairs services preventative maintenance and cleans equipment in accordance with operators manual and manufacturers recommendations to keep equipment operating efficiently and safely.
- May be required to perform other duties as necessary including but not limited to emergency/disaster support activities.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational Promotional or Job Appointment
Compensation: Starting hourly rate is $22.52/hr and the maximum is $40.53.
