Summary
Grimmer Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to serve as the Math Counts Sponsor. This role is essential in fostering a love for mathematics among middle school students through engaging activities and competitions. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop their problem-solving skills collaborate with peers and build confidence in their mathematical abilities.

Responsibilities
- Organize and oversee Math Counts meetings (meet once a week) practices and competitions throughout the academic year.
- Develop a curriculum that enhances students understanding of mathematical concepts and problem-solving strategies.
- Collaborate with school staff to promote the Math Counts program and encourage student participation.
- Provide mentorship and support to students helping them set goals and track their progress in mathematical skills.
- Coordinate logistics for competitions including transportation registration and communication with parents and students.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages teamwork creativity and a growth mindset.
- Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding upcoming events practice schedules and competition results.
- Stay informed about current trends in mathematics education and participate in professional development opportunities as needed.

Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Mathematics Education or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with middle school students particularly in a math-focused environment.
- Strong knowledge of middle school mathematics curriculum and problem-solving techniques.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students parents and school staff.
- A passion for mathematics and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
- Availability to meet after school hours for practices and competitions.
- Background check clearance as required by school district policies.
