Job Summary
Position Summary
Manteno Middle School is seeking applicants for the position of Head Wresting Coach. The Head Coach develops and maintains a successful athletic program that promotes student-athlete growth sportsmanship academic achievement and competitive excellence.
Qualifications/Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated knowledge of the sport including rules techniques strategies and safety practices
- Ability to effectively motivate instruct and supervise student-athletes
- Strong communication organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with coaches administrators students parents and community members
- Current certification in CPR First Aid and AED (or ability to obtain upon hire if required by the district)
- Successful completion of all district state and athletic association coaching requirements
Responsibilities
- Recruit and encourage student participation in the athletic program
- Instruct supervise and develop student-athletes
- Evaluate athlete skills assign team positions and oversee player development
- Provide leadership and direction to assistant coaches to ensure consistent instruction supervision and program expectations
- Plan and conduct practices that promote individual and team improvement
- Instruct athletes in the rules techniques strategies and safety requirements of the sport
- Plan and carry out all activities necessary to prepare the team for games tournaments and other athletic competitions
- Coach and supervise student-athletes during practices competitions travel and related activities
- Promote sportsmanship discipline teamwork and positive behavior
- Monitor academic eligibility and encourage student-athlete academic success
- Communicate effectively with parents staff media booster organizations and community stakeholders regarding the athletic program
- Oversee equipment management inventory recordkeeping and program administration.
- Coordinate team events awards programs parent activities and other athletic department functions
- Ensure compliance with district conference and state athletic regulations and procedures
- Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality of student family and staff information
- Work collaboratively with co-workers and school staff
- Support students social emotional and behavioral growth
- Uphold school policies procedures and educational standards
- Perform other duties as assigned by Administration
Stipend
- $4523.23 for the 2026-2027 school year
