OVERVIEW
TheEmotional and Autistic Support Special Education Teacheris focused on supporting special education students success and social-emotional growth in an inclusive setting. Working collaboratively with special education teachers general education teachers assistant teachers paraeducators building specialists and the Campus Leadership Team the EAS Special Education Teacher provides comprehensive social emotional and behavioral support for students who require emotional support autistic support and/or life skills support to participate in the rigorous and engaging learning opportunities within the classroom. Special education teachers work to ensure all students are supported through case management across or within grade levels. Candidates should be energetic and progressive-minded with a willingness to work collaboratively with building staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
Special Education Paperwork
- Collaborate with parents administrators school psychologist and other professionals to develop individualized education programs (IEPs) designed to promote students social/emotional/behavioral development
- Create Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs) assist with Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) as needed and collect data around the effectiveness of plan
- Develop and deliver Autistic Emotional and/or Life Skills programming to students in individual or small group settings
- Provide individualized targeted social/emotional/behavioral interventions to individuals or groups of students that address specific areas of need outlined in their IEPs or through the school wide MTSS program
- Facilitate a positive achievement-oriented and structured learning environment in which all students can experience success
- Implement school-wide behavior management policies and Bullying Prevention program within classrooms and throughout the school
- Serve as a building level expert in behavior management through sharing and modeling strategies
- Maintain accurate and complete student records and prepare reports required by laws district policies and administrative regulations in a timely and professional manner
- Collect and maintain data to track student progress drive individualized instruction and design academic interventions
- Serve as the case manager for a select number of students with Emotional Support and Autistic Support IEPs and communicate regularly with families to share and behavioral progress and develop a supportive home-school relationship
- Actively engage with the school community by attending annual ECS events
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution and PA special education certification
- At least 3 years of experience teaching ES/AS students and behavioral certifications preferred
- Familiarity with charter schools and K-8 students
Minimum starting salary of $51056 plus $1000 supplement and consideration given for prior years experience.
