    Position Overview:

    Monroe Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to serve as the 7th/8th Grade Co-Ed Cross Country Head Coach. The successful candidate will provide leadership for the middle school cross country program by developing student-athletes both on and off the course promoting personal growth sportsmanship teamwork perseverance and academic success in a positive and supportive environment.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Previous coaching experience in cross country track and field or a related endurance sport is highly preferred.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of distance running fundamentals conditioning training principles and athlete development.
    • Ability to organize and conduct effective practices and competitions.
    • Strong communication leadership and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work effectively with middle school student-athletes parents staff and administration.
    • Must meet all Monroe Public Schools and Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) requirements for coaching eligibility.

    Preferred Skills and Attributes:

    • Ability to teach proper running techniques conditioning pacing strategies and race preparation.
    • Demonstrated ability to motivate student-athletes and foster a positive inclusive team culture.
    • Commitment to promoting good sportsmanship ethical conduct and respect among athletes coaches officials parents and spectators.
    • Willingness to establish and maintain high expectations for academic achievement and athletic participation.
    • Ability to encourage participation personal goal setting and lifelong fitness habits.
    • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with administrators teachers coaches and support staff.
    • Commitment to student safety and athlete well-being.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide leadership and oversight for the 7th/8th Grade Co-Ed Cross Country Program.
    • Plan organize and supervise all practices meets team meetings and related activities.
    • Teach distance running fundamentals conditioning techniques race strategies and sportsmanship.
    • Promote teamwork perseverance responsibility and respect among student-athletes.
    • Monitor and support the academic progress and eligibility of team members.
    • Communicate effectively with athletes parents staff and administration regarding program expectations and activities.
    • Ensure compliance with all District policies athletic department expectations and MHSAA regulations.
    • Assist in the care inventory and maintenance of equipment and team materials.
    • Coordinate meet participation transportation needs and event logistics as required.
    • Serve as a positive role model and representative of Monroe Public Schools at all times.

    Compensation:

    Compensation will be in accordance with the applicable Master Agreement and athletic stipend schedule.
