Under supervision performs data entry and office clerical work of average difficulty in connection with the preparation and maintenance of a wide variety of operating financial purchasing accounting and similar records.

Requires responsibility for: explaining existing office policies and procedures in connection with providing information to the public; making routine contacts with other departmental personnel and the general public in connection with office operations; gathering preparing and maintaining departmental personnel financial and operating reports and records.

Enters accounting and financial statements contracts payrolls receipts and similar materials into the appropriate system and submits to authorizing officials


Monitors budget by logging purchases for contracts purchases and other office needs in a spreadsheet or ledger

May compose and type routine correspondence requiring knowledge of departmental operations and regulations

Receives and communicates with the general public in connection with providing information on departmental activities and/or directs them to other personnel

May receive and account for moderate amounts of money

Receives organizes and files a wide variety of office documents

Assembles materials and information from various sources relative to the typing of a wide variety of documents and distributes to staff and/or the general public

Operates various office machines

Checks and reviews a variety of documents for sufficiency and conformance to established standards and requirements

Submit and track work order requests for building maintenance issues

Purchase inventory and monitor the use of office supplies

Performs other related duties as needed

The strongest candidates will have:

Knowledge of San Franciscos public schools/urban public schools and a passionate belief in SFUSDs commitment to instructional leadership as a lever toward delivering on the SFUSD Graduate Profile

A strong record of managing organizational change and initiating key innovations

Strong analytic and systems thinking necessary to interpret data to inform goals and strategy as well as build infrastructure where none exists

Experience developing and implementing talent management systems or systemic educational reform initiatives

Ability to work effectively across multiple functions and roles within a complex organization

A proven record of effectively planning organizing and using resources to take action and achieve goals

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with senior level district staff and colleagues

Success leading effective teams and individuals

Experience and success with effective written and verbal communication facilitation and presentations to large groups and a variety of audiences (e.g. staff meetings executive briefings public board meetings memos)

Ability to define and implement effective HR business practices

Ability to work effectively in difficult situations that involve confidential and sensitive matters

Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook Word Excel and PowerPoint)

Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year of clerical experience. Experience must have included data entry answering telephones and filing. Working as a sales clerk or restaurant help does not qualify.

Substitution:

A recognized clerical training program of 240 hours or the equivalent of 15 semester units in graded clerical college units may substitute for up to 6 months of experience.
