SENIOR BUDGET AND FINANCE OFFICER MIT Museum reports to the Deputy Director and is responsible for financial planning reporting financial operations risk management and compliance with MIT financial policies and procedures. Will support the Director & Deputy Director on financial matters and objectives outlined in MITMs Strategic Plan and work closely with the senior team; partner with the Development Officer and MITs central Finance office and has a staff of two; serve as the primary liaison to MITs central finance office (VpF) on budgetary reporting contractual and accounting matters; develop monitor and report on MITMs $13 million combined annual budget which includes earned revenue endowment income fundraising contracts grants and support from MIT; and regularly briefs the Director and Deputy Director on progress vis a vis the annual budget. Will develop operational plans to improve MITM sustainability by optimizing profitability of earned revenue & fundraising strategies and recommending resource reallocation and/or cost-cutting strategies as needed; and evaluate budget vs. actual performance and develop and report on key monthly quarterly and annual performance metrics through a clear museum-wide financial dashboard for staff.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Bachelors degree in finance business administration accounting or related field; anda minimum of seven years of accounting and/financial management experience. PREFERRED: Experience in corporate or non-profit finance that includes revenue generation financial reporting grant administration budgeting and accounting and experience managing complex business processes at a revenue generating organization or department; or MBA or CPA.
