Job Summary/Description:

WIFR/WREX in Rockford Illinois is accepting applications for a full-time Meteorologist to join our award-winning team. The perfect individual will have Meteorology experience prepare and deliver weather forecasts weather information as part of the overall WIFR/WREX News team be able to write edit and shoot engaging informative and compelling news and weather content; develop and execute community interest stories regularly; consistently contribute to weather and news content on the stations social media and digital platforms; maintain an unequivocal commitment to accuracy fairness and ethics; meet daily production deadlines; and other duties as assigned.

Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Analyze weather data and prepare detailed forecasts
Prepare graphics to support weather presentation
Flexible schedule for severe weather & winter weather scenarios
Work closely with news management in designing presentation style and editorial content for on-air weather presentations.
Developing and reporting stories
Preparation of material for delivery of newscasts
Post content to website and social media platforms

Qualifications/Requirements:

Bachelors degree in meteorology
Prior experience as a broadcast meteorologist
Strong on-air communication skills
Ability to work as part of an on-air team and part of a weather team
Ability to be creative with graphic design and presentation
Demonstrated ability to accurately forecast weather
Proficient in social media platforms
Must possess a valid drivers license and good driving record.
