Job Summary:

Assist residentswith activities of daily living while encouraging independence under thesupervision of licensed staff. Administer and record medications as ordered bythe physician in accordance with certification regulations.

Essential Functions:
  1. Treat all information about residentstheir condition and family as confidential information.

  2. Comply with established policies and procedures and maintainestablished standards and practices.

  3. Assist with or provide personal hygiene careincluding bathing shaving changing clothing nail care and toilet needs.

  4. Ensure residents have clean dry linen andmake beds as needed.

  5. Support proper resident nutrition during mealand snack times.

  6. Perform resident treatments as assigned bythe Head Nurse and within the nursing scope of practice.

  7. Accurately observe record and reportchanges in resident condition or needs to the Head Nurse.

  8. Actively participate in the planning ofresident care.

  9. Promote activities of daily living accordingto the residents service plan.

  10. Conduct resident lifts and transfersaccording to the residents service plan and the Lift Free Program.

  11. Prepare and administer oral topical andinhalant medications recording administration in the residents medicalrecord and monitoring and reporting changes in condition related to medicationadministration.

  12. Perform other functions asdirected by the supervisor.

Qualifications:
  1. Must be certified on state registry as a MedicationTechnician within 120 days of employment.

  2. Ability to frequently lift and transfer up to30 pounds of resident weight (approximately 15 times) throughout the shift.

  3. Ability to stand walk bend stoop twistand turn constantly throughout an eight (8) hour shift.

  4. Strong organizational skills and ability toperform sequential tasks.

  5. Motivation and desire to work with geriatricresidents.

  6. Ability to communicate effectively inEnglish both verbally and in writing to carry out care plans and provideappropriate resident care.

  7. CPR certification and basic First Aidpreferred.

  8. Licensed Nursing Assistant in the state wherecare is provided a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to work on their feet constantly during an 8-hour shift;bend stoop twist and turn frequently throughout the shift while performingregular duties. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds of resident weight and/ortransfer and reposition residents at least 25 times throughout the shift. Mustbe capable of quick and decisive reactions in emergencies and in response tounexpected resident behavior during lifting repositioning or other directcontact situations. Must be able to physically transfer residents to saferlocations in the event of a fire or other emergencies. Ability to performsequential events/tasks efficiently.
