Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY:

The Medication Home Delivery Courier uses a MAHEC fleet vehicle to pick up and deliver prescription medications medical supplies and related materials from multiple MAHEC pharmacies to patient homes across Buncombe Henderson and surrounding counties.This includes interoffice deliveries between campus facilities as well as satellite offices and affiliated locations around the Western NC MAHEC region.This role ensures safetimely and compliant delivery of medicationsincluding controlled substanceswhilemaintainingpatient confidentiality and adhering to all MAHEC state and federal regulations.

The courier may also collect cash payments from patients whenandis responsible forsecurehandling documentation and return of collected funds.Thisincludes interoffice deliveries between campus facilities as well as satellite offices and affiliated locations around the Western NC MAHEC region.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Make scheduled and unscheduled delivery routes from MAHEC pharmacies to patient homes across Western NC ensuringtimelyandaccuratedelivery of medications.

  • Coordinate daily with pharmacy staff to receive delivery manifests verify medication packages and confirm patient delivery requirements.

  • Follow a preset delivery schedule that may vary based on patient needsmedicationurgency weather or pharmacy workflow.

  • Ensure allmedicationsespecially controlledsubstancesare delivered securely and directly to the patient or authorized recipient obtaining signatures as.

  • Collect cash payments when applicable following MAHEC cashhandling procedures and returning funds to the pharmacy at the end of each shift.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all Personal Health Information (PHI). All medication packages and PHI must remain locked andsecuredduring transport.

  • Perform pretrip vehicle inspections and ensure the fleet vehicleremainsin safe operatingcondition. Submit maintenance work orders when needed.

  • Communicate delivery issues delays or patient concerns to pharmacy staff promptly to ensure continuity of care.

  • Assistpharmacy operations byidentifyingopportunities to improve delivery efficiency safety and patient satisfaction.

  • Provide exceptional customer servicerepresentingMAHEC professionally during all patient interactions.The Courier performspre-tripinspections on the delivery vehicle and ensures the maintenance schedule is maintained.This includes notificationtomaintenance via a workorder if any problems with the vehiclearisemaintenance notifications appear on the control screens or anytime maintenance is.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience inshippingreceivingor warehouse management.

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Pass a medical examination and drug screen todetermineabilityto complete the daily tasks associated with the role.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previouscommercial vehicle driving experience

  • Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class B

REQUIRED LICENSES:

  • ValidNC drivers licensewith clean driving record.

SCHEDULE:

Regular attendance on-site is an essential function of this position. Typical business hours are Monday Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (or flexed to best meet the needs of the clients and/or the Division);40 hoursper workweek; weekend holiday or evening coverage is occasionally. Work hours will need to be flexiblein order torespond to special work assignments or evening activities as requested by the team leader.

POSITION COMPENSATION:

$19.90/hour full time full benefits available
