Job Summary

Summary of Services:

The Medical Simulation Operator will provide technical expertise and support for 133rd Airlift Wing Minnesota National Guard Critical Care Air Transport Team Sustainment Training Center (CCATT-STC) in operating a high-fidelity patient simulator system and assist in developing metrics to validate a simulation-based team-training program. The Operator will assist in the use of advanced learning technologies and methodologies to enhance medical education and training for healthcare teams thereby improving patient outcomes

Working Hours

The Medical Simulation Operator will work part-time 32-40 hours per month not to exceed 480 hours per year. Working hours will be between 0730 and 1630 Monday through Friday except Federal holidays unless the Government Representative stipulates otherwise. Although the schedule may have to be flexible it will not exceed 40 hours per week.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency with word processing software and SharePoint applications is required.
  • Be a certified medical simulation operator in order to be able to manipulate physiological data and interpret participants responses to simulated scenarios.
  • Maintain Basic Life Support-Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) certification.
  • Have at least one year of clinical experience in a military or civilian setting.
  • At least (1) year of experience with programming human patient simulators using Laerdal and Nasco simulator operating systems primarily.
  • Prior experience in course development and education methodology.
  • Knowledge of military trauma clinical skills procedures processes to include: AFMS Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs).
  • Have knowledge and understanding of applicable Air Force and professional standards. Knowledge of military and civilian guidelines policies and procedures through successful completion of the CCATT-STC departments orientation programs is required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and move human patient simulation equipment to and from training areas work in low-light high-volume environments and differing weather conditions simulating actual aeromedical evacuation and CCATT missions

Highly Desired Qualifications

  • Paramedic-equivalent medical knowledge (with RN level preferred) as the Simulation operator in order to be able to manipulate physiological data and interpret participants responses to simulated scenarios.
  • One year of military medical/military deployment experience.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) Audio/visual solutions moulage creation & application hyper-realistic simulators and task-trainers

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise and support on operating a high-fidelity patient simulator system.
  • Assist with the use of advanced learning technologies and methodologies to improve medical education and training for healthcare teams for the purpose of improving patient outcomes.
  • Using a state-of-the-art Learning Management System. Primary Tasks will include equipment setup troubleshooting operational logistics and operating the LMS solution used to view and evaluate learner performance during training and simulation events.
  • Provide input on team performance during pre- and post-simulated conditions to establish correlation between pre- and post-performance.
  • Prepare training environments operate simulation equipment/assets and recover equipment and environment for scheduled training and upon request CCATT-STC Staff.
  • Effectively operate simulation equipment task trainers computerized High-fidelity simulators and virtual reality procedural trainers individually or in combination with the ability to follow legitimate medical aspects of scenarios and shall make appropriate adjustments based on participant actions or inactions as needed.
  • Assist with train-the-trainer activities and basic equipment troubleshooting items for the purpose of training additional cadre members.
