Job Description:

Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist perform tests on blood and body fluids to determine the presence or absence of disease monitor response to treatment and aid in health maintenance. Serves as a technical resource for lesser credentialed staff and assist in training new or lesser credentialed staff. Responsible to troubleshoot and address instrument issues and recognize need for service. Responsible to use critical thinking and clinical knowledge to assess questionable results and correlate with clinical information to determine accuracy.



Laboratory Technicians perform tests on blood and body fluids to determine the presence or absence of disease monitor response to treatment and aid in health maintenance (with the assistance of Medical Technologists/Medical Laboratory Scientists). Identifies and interprets test results and reports to the appropriate clinician.

Job Requirements

Education

• Required: Bachelors Degree must be obtained within90 daysOR High School Diploma or equivalent AND Grandfathered status under CLIA Regulations
• Preferred: Completion of a medical technology program

• Knowledge of current information technology andanability to lead project teams toaccomplishautomation projects oflarge sizeand complexity.

• Proficient in all Microsoft programs; high levelproficiencyin Excel.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

• Required: Certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist from either American Medical Technology (AMT) American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Society of Clinical Pathologist International (ASCPi).

Medical Laboratory Technician

Education

• Required: Associates Degree OR completion of an accredited MLT Program

Experience

• Preferred: 1 Year experience in a laboratory

Licensure/Certification/Registration

• Required: Certified as a Medical Lab Technician from a nationally recognized laboratory certifying agency or eligible to sit for exam at time of hire; must obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
