Job Summary

Description

The Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible forperforming complex laboratory tests on patient specimens toaid in the diagnosis treatment and prevention of diseases. This individual must demonstrate precision analytical thinking and a strong understandingoflaboratory science and technology. The individual performs diagnostictesting on blood tissue and other bodily fluids; operates and maintains laboratory equipment; analyzes test results and report findings to physicians and other healthcare providers; ensures quality control and compliance with safety protocols; maintains accurate patient records and laboratory documentation; collaborates with healthcareprofessionalstointerpret results and support patient care.

Qualifications

Bachelorsdegreein a MedicalLaboratory ScienceBiologyChemistryor arelatedfield.

  • Strongattentiontodetailandmanualdexterity
  • Excellentproblem-solving communicationand computerskills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Familiaritywithlaboratorysafetystandardsandprocedures

Certification fromrecognized bodiessuchasMLS/H/C/BB ASCP(AmericanSociety forClinicalPathology) or AMT(American Medical Technologists) within 18 months of hire
