Responsibilities
  1. Complete relevant training/internship
  2. Develop medical assistant skills by learning and demonstrating in the class and in the practice
  3. Maintains attendance standard as per policy
  4. Maintains positive relations in all interactions
  5. Assists with obtaining accurate vital signs and record in the EHR
  6. Begins work at the assigned time and remains until the end of the assigned shift
  7. Assists with obtains and records patient medical history and specific information related to the reason for visit
  8. Assists with and prepares patient for examinations testing and procedures.
  9. Collects prepares and performs basic laboratory tests
  10. Phlebotomy
  11. Transports patients equipment specimens blood etc. as required
  12. Prepares and administers medications as directed by the physician/provider
  13. Assist with scheduling patient appointments and addressing patient phone calls appropriately
  14. Maintains patient and family confidentiality at all times
  15. Assists with transmitting prescription refill requests as directed by the physician/provider
  16. Maintains a clean neat and safe environment. Activities may include but are not limited to tidying room cleaning equipment changing bed linens restocking work areas keeping rooms and hallways clear of debris emptying trash defrosting refrigerators cleaning cabinet surfaces and completing discharge room cleans.
  17. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions unsafe conditions or employee/patient/visitor injuries to Manager.
Qualifications

  1. High school diploma equivalent education (GED) post-secondary education or (1) one year work experience.
  2. Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification within 90 days of hire
  3. Must submit to a color vision acuity test if duties are lab related.

PREFERRED

  1. Basic computer skills
