About The Role

As a Medical Assistant PRN in our growing urgent care clinic you will play a key role in supporting both front and back office operations on an as-needed hourly basis. Working alongside our providers and clinical staff you will assist with patient triage direct patient care and a variety of administrative tasks to ensure efficient high-quality and compassionate service. This role is ideal for a Medical Assistant with at least 1 year of experience who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment is proficient with phlebotomy EKGs and vaccine/medication administration and enjoys delivering excellent customer service. The PRN/per diem schedule offers flexibility making this a great opportunity for someone seeking variable hours while contributing meaningfully to patient care.


What Youll Do

  • Perform patient triage including obtaining vital signs medical history chief complaint and documenting information accurately in the medical record.
  • Assist providers with examinations procedures and treatments in an urgent care setting.
  • Perform phlebotomy collect and properly label specimens and prepare them for laboratory processing.
  • Administer vaccines and medications under provider orders following proper safety and documentation protocols.
  • Perform and assist with diagnostic tests such as EKGs ensuring proper technique and clear accurate tracings.
  • Prepare exam rooms between patients including cleaning stocking supplies and maintaining a safe organized environment.
  • Support front office operations including greeting and registering patients verifying insurance information and collecting co-pays as needed.
  • Answer phones schedule or adjust appointments and route messages to clinical staff and providers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide clear instructions and education to patients and families regarding procedures follow-up care and clinic processes as directed by the provider.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service addressing patient concerns with professionalism empathy and respect.
  • Follow infection control safety and confidentiality standards in accordance with clinic policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with providers nurses and other team members to support efficient clinic flow and a positive patient experience.
  • Utilize electronic health records (EHR) for documentation order entry and communication in accordance with clinic protocols.
  • Work variable PRN/per diem shifts including evenings weekends and holidays as needed with flexibility to adapt to changing clinic needs.


Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an urgent care primary care or similar clinical setting.
  • Proficiency in both front and back office Medical Assistant duties including patient triage rooming patients and administrative support.
  • Demonstrated skills in phlebotomy including safe blood draws and proper specimen handling and labeling.
  • Experience performing EKGs with the ability to obtain clear accurate tracings following established protocols.
  • Competence in vaccine and medication administration under provider supervision with knowledge of proper dosing injection techniques and documentation.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally courteously and compassionately with patients and families.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced urgent care environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Comfort using electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer applications for scheduling documentation and communication.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proven reliability and flexibility to work PRN/per diem hours including evenings weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Knowledge of standard infection control safety practices and patient confidentiality (HIPAA) requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative care team.
