Job Summary

Position Summary
The Medical Assistant will work in the Horizon Wellness Clinics and will perform selected nursing and administrative support duties.
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Prefer Medical Assistant Certification.
Types of Experience
- One year of experience as a medical assistant.
Related Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of psychiatric/medical medications/treatments.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferably behavioral healthcare medical terminology.
- Knowledge of client care such as examination and treatment room procedures.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer client care.
- Knowledge of medical practice.
- Strong computer knowledge.
- Knowledge and experience using an electronic health record (EHR).
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and ability to maintain confidentiality of client information.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with clients medical staff and non-medical staff.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.
- Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends holidays etc.) as required.
- Ability to drive and must possess a valid drivers license. May be called upon to travel to any
- Horizon worksite. Regular attendance at training and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites;
- Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
