The MA Float will support all of the BHMG Urgent Cares in Shelbyville Louisville and LaGrange. Responsible for the coordination of direct patient care activities and providing clinical support to providers within the clinical practice.
Duties include:
- Check in patients obtaining vital signs & medication reconciliation
- Patient medical history information
- Navigating electronic health record system (EPIC)
- Communicate with pharmacies insurance companies patients and physicians and will uphold Baptists mission and core values that drive service excellence.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
- 1 year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office clinic or similar setting required. Experience must include direct hands-on patient care in a clinical setting such as obtaining vital signs documenting patient history and medications and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKGs phlebotomy administering injections or vaccines).
- Or Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum required.
- Upon hire all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.
- Basic computer skills experience with EMR System a plus.
- Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
- BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications for a Certified Medical Assistant:
- Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA AMT NAHP NCCT or AAMP.
- Or graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure.
