Job Summary

Job Summary: The Clinic Medical Assistant supports healthcare providers and clinical staff by performing both clinical and administrative duties to ensure efficient clinic operations and high-quality patient care. This role is essential in creating a safe organized and compassionate environment for patients.

Reports To:Director Outpatient Services Manager Business Office

Hourly Range:$18.75 - $27.46(posted hourly range excludes overtime and bonuses which are not guaranteed)

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during clinical procedures
  • Take and record vital signs medical histories and patient information accurately
  • Perform basic clinical tasks such as injections specimen collection and EKGs (as permitted by scope of practice)
  • Maintain clean organized and well-stocked exam rooms
  • Document patient care in electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Schedule patient appointments and assist with patient flow
  • Follow infection control safety and HIPAA guidelines

Additional Duties

  • Assist with front desk tasks including patient check-in and check-out
  • Handle phone calls messages and patient inquiries as needed
  • Support inventory management and ordering of medical supplies
  • Participate in staff meetings training and continuing education
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
  • Medical Assistant certification (CMA RMA or equivalent) preferred or required per clinic policy

Experience:

  • 12 years of experience in a clinical or medical office setting preferred
  • Experience with EHR systems and basic clinical procedures preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand walk and move throughout the clinic for extended periods
  • Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds
  • Manual dexterity to perform clinical tasks and use medical equipment
  • Ability to communicate clearly with patients and staff

Working Conditions/Environmental Exposures

Environmental hazards such as chemicals solvents needles needle containers sharps blood body fluids various infectious/communicable diseases infectious medical waste radiation and/or radioactive materials and/or radioactive waste proximity to moving mechanical parts. Protective clothing/equipment may be necessary.

ASH IMMUNIZATIONS AND VACCINATIONS REQUIREMENTS Aligns with CDCs Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for Healthcare Personnel

  • Hepatitis B- Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Hepatitis B or three doses Hep B vaccine at appropriate intervals
  • Influenza- documentation of current seasonal flu vaccine (mandatory from November 1st through March 31st each year)
  • Measles Mumps and Rubella - Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Measles Mumps and Rubella or 2 doses of MMR Vaccination
  • Varicella (chickenpox) - Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Varicella or 2 doses of Varicella Vaccine
  • Tetanus diphtheria pertussis (Tdap) - documented proof of immunization
  • Tuberculosis Screening -Documentation of a two-step TB skin test within the past year OR lab verification of a negative TB Gold or T-Spot tuberculin test within the past 6 months
