  • South Carolina certification as required for the position or eligible for appropriate certification

Job Description:

  • Attends various staff meetings to provide input and receive information regarding the library and reference needs of the school.
  • Coordinates requests of individuals and/or sites (e.g. technical support and equipment requirements) to ensure the availability of audio-visual equipment for instructional use.
  • Develops library media resources to provide accurate and up-to-date information to students and staff.
  • Directs media instructional assistant in providing orientation training and ensuring assignments are completed appropriately. Duplicates audio and video tapes to maintain an appropriate inventory for internal distribution.
  • Evaluate media equipment to ensure repairs provision of technical support diagnosing malfunctions and/or recommending acquisitions.
  • Instructs students to educate them on the proper use of the media center resources (e.g. classification system use of equipment care of materials).
  • Monitors activities of the media center to maintain an appropriate working atmosphere.
  • Operates a variety of media production equipment and systems (e.g. program channel videotape edit media duplicate media) to provide media production services.
  • Prepares documentation for the purpose of providing supporting information and conveying information to others about their actions.
  • Responds to inquiries by providing information and/or direction.
  • Performs other related duties as may be required to support the efficient and effective functioning of the department.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.

Working Conditions:

Office environment with little exposure to environmental conditions. Physical demands are restricted to general office activities requiring the movement/lifting of items weighing up to twenty-five pounds. Routine local travel is required; occasional overnight travel is required. Requires the ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require considerable attention and meeting deadlines.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand walk sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee is continuously interacting with the public staff and students. The employee frequently must meet multiple demands from several people. The employee is regularly required to sit and stand. The employee is required to walk; use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Occasionally the employee must use hand/grip strength to operate office equipment.
