Job Summary
Position SummaryTheMechanics Assistant (Tech Services)assiststhemechanics and weldersinthe maintenancediagnosing repairing installingtesting andcalibration ofwater wastewater and solid waste related mechanical hydraulic and pneumatic position will support multiple facilities with varying processesequipmentand functional position is given specific instruction and work is performed under direct ResponsibilitiesAssistsand supportmechanicsand weldersin theinstallation maintenancediagnosingand repair of pumps motors gear boxes valves piping actuators aircompressorsand generators pneumatics hydraulics and gear driven supportsmechanicsand weldersinperforming basic tasks including greasing of equipment parts assembly and disassembly sandblasting grinding and and supports mechanics and welders with the troubleshooting diagnosis and resolves variable and highly complex non routine water or wastewater facility machinery piping and equipment problemsDemonstrates technical aptitude withmechanical systems and principles and practices ofASME OSHAAWWA and STLEandunderstands orhas the ability tolearn the differences in thevarioustypesof oil and greases used in an industrial preventive and predictive maintenance and maintains tools parts equipment and materials requirements and inventory for assigned basic mathematical and interprets blueprints schematics plans and manufacturers industrial tools and machinery including Lathe Mill drill press band saw welders torches plasma cutters forklift sky track scissor lifts and multiple power tools related to maintenance appliesproper safety procedures and protocols in all work all required trainings andremainsup to date on safety clean and organized work area at all a continuous effort to improve skill andmaintainseffective working relationships and public other duties as RequirementsEducation & Experience:Mustpossessa high school diploma or Water / Wastewater license a valid Texas Drivers License with a clean driving Skills & Abilities:Must have the ability tocomprehend carryoutand administer written and oral ofbasicmechanicalprinciples and visual color willingness to learn and develop skills in theindustrial to work effectively in a team ability to perform duties such as lifting climbing and working in confined to work overtimeand call outs as communication and interpersonal to report to work on timemaintaina good attendance record and work all designated work schedulesAbility to take constructive performance feedback in a positive manner and apply to daily and Physical Working ConditionsDriving a District vehicle for business will be required. Employees required to drive as part of their job duties are responsible for maintaining a current valid and vehicle - appropriate driver s license of their resident position requires continuous physical exertion often of a strenuous nature. Lifts or pulls/pushes 50 poundson a daily basisand up to 100 pounds on a weekly basisin order torepair and service various mechanical components while using various hand tools and conditions include exposure tohigh voltage electricityfrequent exposure to inclement weather wastewater mechanical electrical chemical and confined space hazards with offensive fumes excessive noise heavy traffic and animals snakes and poisonous use handand power tools includingpneumaticequipmentimpact drills sawsemergency lightingequipmentand safety berequiredtocomply withrequirements as specified in applicable regulations for personal protective equipment including clearance for use of respiratory protection and other associated equipment. Alsooperatesa company vehicleon a daily berequiredto work hours other than regular schedule such as short notice/unscheduled overtime nights weekends holidays on-calland rotating shifts.
