Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Mechanical Plant Maintenance Technician for a contract this role you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability safety and peak performance of our chemical processing plant equipment. The ideal contractor will bring deep hands-on mechanical expertise a strong commitment to preventative maintenance and a track record of collaborating across disciplines to minimize production downtime.
- This is a contract position due to last through November 2026 (but work may continue after this period).
- Looking for candidates who reside near the Texarkana area.
Shift & Schedule
- Hours: Open and flexible shift schedule depending on plant production needs.
- On-Call: Required on-call availability for nights weekends and emergency response as operational requirements dictate.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical & Equipment Maintenance: Install troubleshoot maintain and repair a diverse range of chemical unit operations equipment including Adsorption systems Filters Separators Evaporators Heaters Filter Presses Thickeners and Tanks.
- Fluid Handling Expertise: Execute routine and emergency maintenance on various industrial pump configurations including centrifugal diaphragm gear and positive displacement pumps.
- Auxiliary & Utility Systems: Oversee the upkeep and reliability of critical plant utility infrastructure including industrial air compressors Deionized (DI) water systems and facility utility lines.
- Preventative & Predictive Maintenance: Adhere to and optimize established Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedules to ensure equipment longevity and intercept potential failures before they impact production.
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Partner closely with Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) engineers and technicians to diagnose troubleshoot and resolve complex electromechanical issues.
- Downtime Reduction: Rapidly respond to plant floor breakdowns in a fast-paced production environment applying root-cause analysis to sustainably minimize equipment downtime.
- Inventory & Spare Parts Management: Monitor and manage the spare parts inventory to ensure critical components are consistently stocked tracked and organized.
- Operator Training & Support: Conduct technical training and mentorship for production operators to empower them in executing basic autonomous maintenance activities (e.g. minor adjustments lubrications and inspections).
Physical Requirements
- Lifting: Must be able to routinely lift push pull and carry equipment or parts weighing up to 50 lbs independently in accordance with safe lifting practices and occupational safety guidelines. Anything exceeding 50 lbs will require mechanical assistance or a team lift.
- Mobility: Ability to stand walk bend kneel and work in tight spaces or at heights throughout an extended shift.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Proven track record of success in mechanical plant maintenance ideally within a chemical processing manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
- Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of mechanical systems hydraulics pneumatics and fluid dynamics. Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and P&IDs.
- Collaboration: Strong team-player attitude with excellent communication skills for working alongside engineering teams and operations personnel.
