Mechanical Estimator

Our client is an established and growing mechanical contractor specializing in commercial HVAC and mechanical construction. The company works on complex commercial projects and is focused on delivering quality work while continuing to expand its operations.

The Mechanical Estimator will prepare accurate and competitive estimates for commercial mechanical construction projects including HVAC piping plumbing and related mechanical systems. This role will review drawings specifications scopes labor requirements equipment materials and subcontractor pricing to develop comprehensive estimates and support preconstruction efforts.

• Prepare detailed estimates for commercial mechanical construction projects.
  
• Review plans specifications bid documents addenda and project requirements.
  
• Perform accurate material equipment and labor takeoffs.
  
• Develop labor estimates based on project scope complexity schedule and productivity requirements.
  
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
  
• Review equipment and material pricing for accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
  
• Identify scope gaps exclusions clarifications and potential project risks.
  
• Prepare bid summaries estimate breakdowns and supporting documentation.
  
• Participate in pre-bid meetings scope reviews and estimate turnover meetings.
  
• Coordinate with Project Managers Superintendents Purchasing and Operations.
  
• Analyze historical job-cost information to improve estimating accuracy.
  
• Assist with value engineering and alternative system evaluations.
  
• Track bid results and assist with post-bid analysis.
  
• Develop and maintain relationships with vendors suppliers subcontractors and industry partners.
  
• Stay current on labor rates material costs equipment pricing market conditions and industry trends.
  
• Support the transition of awarded projects from estimating to operations.
  
• Maintain organized and complete estimating documentation.
  

• Minimum 5 years of recent Mechanical Estimating experience.
  
• Commercial mechanical construction experience required.
  
• Experience estimating HVAC piping plumbing and/or related mechanical systems.
  
• Estimating experience must be within the United States; Arizona experience strongly preferred.
  
• Strong understanding of commercial construction drawings specifications and contract documents.
  
• Ability to perform detailed material equipment and labor takeoffs.
  
• Strong knowledge of mechanical construction methods materials equipment and installation requirements.
  
• Strong mathematical analytical organizational and problem-solving skills.
  
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel Word Outlook Adobe Acrobat and Bluebeam.
  
• FastEST estimating software experience strongly preferred.
  
• Valid drivers license and insurable driving record required.
  
• No DUI/DWI convictions within the previous 7 years.
  
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  

• Full-time in-person position in Phoenix AZ.
  
• Primarily office-based estimating work with potential exposure to active commercial construction environments.
  
• Ability to review construction documents for extended periods and work with computer-based estimating software.
  
• Occasional travel to project sites pre-bid meetings or other business locations may be required.
