Job Description

SkyBridge Tactical is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Rapid Operational Capability (ROC) Engineering Lab at Dam Neck Annex Virginia Beach VA. This role supports the development testing and fielding of Tactical Surveillance Equipment (TSE) integration solutions for unmanned systems in support of critical special operations missions.

Key Responsibilities

Integrate systems model and create technical solutions to assist with the launch and recovery of unmanned systems.
Integrate operational systems and technology onto unmanned platforms to enable flight command and control intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR).
Fabricate concealment mounting and housing solutions for manufactured printed circuit boards and various antenna systems.
Design and develop launch and recovery mechanisms for manned and unmanned systems accounting for weight stability and environmental factors.
Apply analytical considerations for thermal management shock absorption stress and vibration mitigation in designs.
Use CAD software (SolidWorks AutoCAD Rhino) to model analyze and create technical solutions for UxS components and subsystems.
Design and install antenna systems for UxS optimizing placement signal strength and interference mitigation.
Fabricate enclosure solutions mechanical and electrical housings and custom mounting brackets for UxS components.
Utilize 3D printing technologies (FDM SLS SLA) and select appropriate materials (PLA PETG/ABS TPU).
Operate CNC machinery and work comfortably in a shop environment with industrial power tools.
Support technical reports briefings innovation reports and system integration plans as required.

Mandatory Qualifications

Active SECRET clearance with TS/SCI eligibility.
B.S. in Mechanical Robotics Aeronautical Engineering or applicable engineering/science field.
Minimum of 3 years of hands-on professional experience.

Level II Qualifications

3 years of extensive knowledge of aviation principles and unmanned systems (UxS).
3 years of extensive knowledge in electric propulsion and combustible power systems.
Proficiency in CAD software including SolidWorks AutoCAD and/or Rhino.
Experience designing launch and recovery mechanisms for manned or unmanned systems.
Hands-on experience fabricating enclosures and custom mounting solutions for UxS components.
Understanding of electromagnetic principles and RF interference mitigation strategies.
Experience with 3D printing technologies and material selection.
Experience manufacturing with CNC machines.
Must be comfortable working in a shop environment with loud noises and industrial power tools; may be required to lift 50 lbs.
