Job Summary
Cushing Terrell is seeking an Experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team on an on-site this role you will lead the design of complex HVAC and plumbing systems for a variety of building types working alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers architects designers and planners.
Day to day you will develop HVAC design concepts conduct site assessments and building engineering analysis and provide quality control review of mechanical designs produced by others on the team.
Success in this role means producing high-quality code-compliant mechanical designs mentoring and leading a team of engineers and drafters to deliver strong construction documents and being a trusted technical resource within the firms mechanical engineering practice.
The expected salary range for this position is $90000 to $130000 annually.
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 10 years experience in consulting HVAC engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to obtain licensure
- Proficient in Revit MEP for mechanical design and coordination
- Ability to design complex HVAC systems including VAV DOAS VRF data room cooling and packaged rooftop systems as well as chilled water and hydronic heating systems including pipe pump duct and fan sizing and selection
- Advanced knowledge of heating and cooling load calculations ventilation and mechanical building codes
- Ability to lead and collaborate with a team of engineers and drafters to produce construction documents
- Proficient in writing mechanical specifications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience producing 3D coordinated mechanical models in a multidisciplinary BIM environment
- Skilled in HVAC load modeling software such as Trane Trace or Carrier HAP
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Bluebeam Revit MEP and relevant HVAC design software
- Working knowledge of plumbing systems including domestic hot and cold water and waste and vent systems
- Advanced understanding of digital temperature control systems and sequences of operation

- Lead development of HVAC design concepts independently or in collaboration with other engineers
- Conduct site assessments and building analysis to produce engineering reports and improvement recommendations
- Identify energy conservation measures including potential savings and implementation costs
- Provide quality control review of mechanical designs and deliver constructive technical feedback
- Serve as Engineer in Responsible Charge making technical decisions and reviewing stamping and signing construction documents
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers and drafters to produce high-quality construction documents

*Actual pay will be determined based on the candidates years of experience licensure status location level of proficiency and other job-related factors as permitted by law. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
