Job Summary:
The Mechanical Commissioning Lead is a project position responsible for facilitating commissioning planning and execution of commissioning activities for the mechanical scopes of the commissioning project. The Mechanical Commissioning Lead supports the Commissioning Manager Commissioning Engineers and Superintendent in completion of all planning and execution activities to meet project deadlines.
Experience & Education:
- Minimum 8 years experience in commissioning
- Engineering degree or technical qualification required
- Working knowledge of appropriate regulatory requirements and restrictions
- Extensive knowledge of oil and gas facilities and associated control and safety systems
- Proven ability to effectively and efficiently work as part of a team and independently
- Proven ability to effectively lead a team (up to 30 people)
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and work well with others
- Proven ability to promote client relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel within the US offshore and internationally
- Work to promote the 5-levels of leadership philosophy and GATE Energy standards for HSSE and Quality
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Carry out commissioning planning and execution activities as directed by Commissioning Superintendent Commissioning Manager and Commissioning Engineers
- Undertake technical writing to develop commissioning and system test plans for execution as well as other project deliverables
- Direct mentor and lead field supervisors and technician personnel to undertake commissioning activities
- Provide necessary information and relevant reports/documents to the Client QA/QC department
- Assist the Commissioning Manager and other team personnel to coordinate Systems Completion and facilitate successful commissioning and turnover to client
- Complete documentation (e.g. Inspection Test Records or System Commissioning Procedures) required to document completion of commissioning activities.
- Provide technical guidance to discipline field Supervisors and Technicians for execution of daily commissioning activities
- Interface with project team turnover and acceptance coordinator start-up team and operations
- Assist in resolution of systems completion related issues to ensure satisfactory quality is attained
- Participate actively in the projects Management of Change (MoC) program
- Perform activities in accordance with the Project QA/QC Plan
- Inspect systems equipment and components to identify hazards defects required repairs and to ensure compliance
- Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging technology used during mechanical discipline commissioning activities
- Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment is hazardous. Provide QC monitoring and verify that all activities comply with the applicable Specifications Codes Standards QA Manual and QA/QC Plan
- Adhere to GATE standards and client requirements for Health Safety Security and Environmental (HSSE). Take reasonable care of ones own health and safety and that of others in the workplace
- Maintain current licenses certifications or identification cards to meet governmental regulations and project / client requirements
- Interface with vendors and other stakeholders to effectively and efficiently execute all equipment commissioning activities
- Monitor static and dynamic commissioning activities
- Assist in the seamless transition of the facilities from project to operations
- Generate Job Safety Analysis and other required documentation to adhere with project / client HSSE requirements
- Manage project documentation
- Follow and maintain GATE and client standards for Quality in accordance with Quality System requirements
- Identify quality issues and proposed resolutions
- Ability to produce required tools and test equipment lists commissioning spares and consumables lists and work with GATE logistics to ensure proper calibrations and use of equipment during execution of commissioning scopes
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb stairs ladders ramps and access/utilize scaffolding
- Ability to carry tools bag (up to 50 lbs.) bend body downward and forward kneel climb & walk
- Work extended shift hours e.g. 12 hours / day or as dictated by project requirements
- Ability to pass a drug screen and/or physical
