Not RequiredCollins Aerospace is seeking a Mechanical Assembler V Group Lead to support our Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) facility in Foley Alabama and our A320 Assembly Line.
This is a senior-level hands-on assembly position that also serves as a working lead and technical resource for the addition to performing complex mechanical assembly work the Group Lead helps coordinate daily activities supports and mentors other assemblers assists with technical and production issues and serves as a liaison between the team and site leadership.
The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical assembly expertise along with demonstrated leadership qualities sound judgment effective communication skills and the ability to positively influence and support others in a manufacturing environment.
What You Will Do
- Work onsite at our Foley AL facility Monday Friday 6:30 AM 3:00 PM.
- Perform complex mechanical assembly rework and repair activities in accordance with engineering specifications blueprints drawings work instructions quality standards and safety requirements.
- Serve as a working Group Lead and technical resource for Mechanical Assemblers providing day-to-day guidance and supporting team activities while remaining actively engaged in production.
- Assist team members with interpreting blueprints diagrams engineering drawings specifications and work instructions and provide guidance on proper assembly methods tools and processes.
- Help coordinate workflow and daily priorities communicate work status identify production barriers and escalate safety quality material or operational concerns to leadership when appropriate.
- Mentor train and support team members demonstrate effective leadership behaviors and help promote teamwork accountability quality and a positive work environment.
- Troubleshoot assembly and production issues identify product defects or non-conformances perform quality checks and recommend solutions or process improvements.
- Partner with Operations leadership Engineering Quality and other stakeholders to communicate production status resolve technical issues and support Continuous Improvement (CI)/CORE activities.
- Safely operate hand tools power tools precision measuring equipment and other equipment required for assembly operations while maintaining an organized and safe work area.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. Certification or credentials may be required for some roles
- 2 years of aerospace manufacturing experience.
- 2 years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints diagrams engineering drawings and/or technical work instructions.
- 2 years of experience using hand tools power tools precision measuring equipment and/or related manufacturing equipment.
- 1 year of experience with Continuous Improvement tools or methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience leading training mentoring coordinating or providing technical guidance to others in a manufacturing military technical or similar team environment.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Previous experience as a Group Lead Team Lead Senior Assembler Trainer or similar working-lead position.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor employees communicate expectations coordinate work and positively influence team performance.
- Strong problem-solving decision-making and interpersonal communication skills.
- Composite Repair Certification.
- Experience with Lean ACE CORE or similar manufacturing/Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- AMQAS experience or willingness to obtain certification.
- Experience working with ISO 9001 standards.
