Position Overview

The Mechanic Technician 1 is responsible for supporting the inspection preventive maintenance and repair of a wide range of operating equipment and vehicles at Capitol Aggregates plant locations. This role is primarily shop-based but may require work to be performed in plant environments as needed. Equipment serviced includes heavy and light automotive equipment earth-moving machinery internal combustion engines (gas and diesel) air compressors pumps vac trucks sweepers golf carts and other support equipment.


What Youll Do

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on trucks vehicles and equipment completing both major and minor work as assigned.
  • Respond to routine service calls on both on-road and off-road equipment.
  • Perform maintenance and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment such as loaders bulldozers off-highway trucks and skid steers.
  • Perform welding fabrication and basic machine work.
  • Troubleshoot diagnose and rebuild equipment systems as directed.
  • Maintain clean equipment shop areas and workspaces daily.
  • Follow all related and established company plant and safety regulations.

What Youll Bring

Education Skills Abilities and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Diesel Mechanics highly desired but not required.
  • Must have a valid and clean drivers license.
  • Must be proficient with computers.
  • Must have proficient knowledge of and ability to use software to diagnose and repair component systems.
  • Must be able to operate a truck-mounted crane.
  • Ability to provide own basic tools.


Other Qualifications

  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning complex mechanical trade skills.
  • Proven ability to operate a service truck in and around heavy traffic.
  • Ability to provide timely customer service at all plants or locations.
  • Must be flexible in work schedules and start times.
  • Must have good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
