Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.

The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing industrial mobile equipment to support safe reliable operations. This role involves troubleshooting preventive maintenance repairs and parts replacement using hand and power tools while maintaining accurate service records and a clean safe work area.

Duties of the role include but are not limited to:

• Repair and maintain industrial mobile equipment using hand and power tools lift trucks and maintenance cranes when available.
• Move operate assemble and dismantle machinery as needed.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems and repair or replace worn or broken parts.
• Perform basic repairs and maintenance including replacing hydraulic lines O-rings and filters that support engine operation.
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot breakdowns to keep equipment operating safely and reliably.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and follow all safety regulations.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records of services and repairs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Work directly with transaction accounting software support to resolve issues that cannot be corrected internally.

Required:

• Ability to read and understand technical documents diagrams and service manuals.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot the root cause of equipment failures.
• Ability to work overtime as needed including outside the normally scheduled shift with little or no advance notice.

• Ability to stand for extended periods in an industrial environment and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to perform physical activities including pulling reaching bending climbing and kneeling.

Preferred:

• CPAand/or Advanced Business degree
• Manufacturing experience
