The Maintenance Lead troubleshoots repairs maintains and installs HVAC and related equipment as assigned and assumes day-to-day coordination of specific agreements or projects as assigned to ensure contractual commitments are met in a timely cost-effective manner.

Pay: $24.00/HR

Responsibilities

Position Summary Details

The Mechanic Helper assist the Lead Mechanic in performing a full range of skilled mechanical maintenance diagnostic inspection and repair duties on passenger shuttle buses.

Essential Duties

  • Inspect diagnose adjust and repair diesel poweredbuses.
  • Perform generalinstallation repair replacement and adjustment of bearings ignitions transmissions differentials axles steering mechanisms drive shafts fenders radiators and front end and rear suspension systems.
  • Perform a prescribed preventative maintenance program on the bus fleet and road test vehicles after work has been completed.
  • Perform work in adherence to safe work practices and procedures and in compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
  • Maintain inventory of parts and supplies on hand for the repair of vehicles.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area; maintain and repair shop facilities and equipment.

Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Procedures of preventive maintenance related to automotive and shuttle buses.
  • Laws rules and regulations pertaining to shuttle bus operations and pupil transportation including DOT compliance.
  • Procedures of recycling and disposing of hazardous waste from motorizedvehiclesand equipment.
  • Safe driving principles and practices.

Ability:

  • Patch and install seat covers and other accessories.
  • Communicateclearlyandconciselyboth orally and in writing.
  • Establishandmaintain a positiveworkingrelationships with those contactedinthecourse of work.

Basic Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older
Must possess valid unexpired drivers license
High School Diploma GED or suitable equivalent is required

Preferred Qualifications:


One (1) year of prior mechanical experience is preferred

Maintain records of technical knowledge regarding equipment and concepts
Handle heavy workload of calls
Inform customer when arriving at or leaving the job and when planning to return
Manage workload and job scheduling
Promptly and accurately complete all required paperwork
Obtain customer signature on all service reports (before work begins when performing spot jobs)
Keep manager informed of customer feedback
Communicate effectively and promptly
Provide technical training and knowledge as needed to client customer and team
Collaborate with and across multiple departments and representatives within the Company
When the Supervisor is present the lead worker may also be responsible for directing smaller work groups
Report team performance issues to the Supervisor
