Job Summary and Responsibilities

Join our Hospital team as a Mechanic this role you will

  • Operate and maintain stationary engines mechanical equipment compressors generators and steam boilers to ensure the provision of utilities such as lighting heating power refrigeration air conditioning and other essential services for the hospital.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service when interacting with patients visitors and fellow staff members.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and provide mentorship and coaching to less experienced facilities staff.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks including but not limited to electrical work plumbing equipment maintenance and safety testing.
Job Requirements

In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day qualified candidates will need the following:

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. required

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience in maintaining operating and repairing building mechanical systems including boilers liquid chillers pumps fans air handling units heat exchangers and other related equipment.
  • Familiarity with medical gas systems including medical air pumps medical vacuum pumps bulk oxygen nitrous oxide nitrogen and backup systems.
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to read write and speak English.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical degree or certificate in a facilities-related field.
  • Knowledge of Building Automation Systems and Computerized Maintenance Management systems. Experience in hospital facilities or healthcare construction is a plus.
  • Certification as a Stationary Engineer Boiler Operator Class A & B CFC and/or Journeyman.
  • City and County Stationary Engineer Certificate.

Physical Requirements

  • Medium Work - occasional exertion/lifting of up to 50 lbs. frequent exertion/lifting of up to 20 lbs. constant exertion/lifting of up to 10 lbs.
