Job Summary
Introduction
The Maryland Departmentof Labor BEACON Office is seeking a highly qualified IT Lead Engineer toserve as a Senior Web Developer and Technical Lead. This position isresponsible for thearchitectural designdevelopment and maintenance of enterprise-level web applications that supporttheBEACON unemploymentinsurance modernization project. The successful candidate will work closelywithproject managers UIstaff directors and executive leadership to guide business rules designfunctionalityand policy decisions.

Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applications that meet the minimum andselective qualifications will be referred to the hiring manager for interviewselection. Units will select those candidates most closely demonstrating thequalifications for interview.
Education: A Bachelorsdegree from an accredited college or university in Information TechnologyComputer Science Management Information Systems or other informationtechnology related field.
Experience: One year ofexperience designing developing testing implementing and maintainingapplications systems and programs using generally accepted computer programminglanguages or other developmental tools.
Notes:
1. Candidates maysubstitute six credit hours of coursework in application analysis andprogramming using generally accepted computer programming languages or otherdevelopmental tools for six months of the required experience.
2. Candidates maysubstitute graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a highschool equivalency certificate and eighteen months of experience convertingdata from project specifications by writing program code using generallyaccepted computer programming languages or other developmental tools for therequired education.
3. Candidates maysubstitute graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a highschool equivalency certificate and fifteen credit hours from an accreditedcollege or university in systems analysis and application programming usinggenerally accepted computer programming languages or other developmental toolsfor the required education.
4. Candidates maysubstitute experience in one of the following areas: operating computersscheduling controlling input and output or maintaining backups or datastorage processing data on computers evaluating implementing and maintaininghardware and software on a year-for-year basis for a high school education.
5. Candidates maysubstitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissionedofficer in Computer Systems Programming classifications or Computer SystemsProgramming specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on ayear-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working on government ITmodernization or unemployment insurance systems.
Experience with BEACON or similar benefitsadministration platforms.
Experience with technical documentationincluding API references and system architecture diagrams.

Personnel employed in this classification willhave access to federal tax information and must undergo a state and FBIcriminal background check as a condition of employment.
