Job Summary

Abilene Public Schools USD #435 is currently seeking a Classified Title aide for McKinley.

Qualifications

Purpose: The aide/para assists the instructor in creating a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal social and intellectual development of students. To accomplish these tasks the aide/para works closely with the staff and administration to support students.

Essential Functions

  1. Ability to assist in facilitating the personal social and intellectual development of students.
  2. Ability to assist in establishing a positive learning environment and respon to the individual educational needs of students.
  3. Ability to ensure all activities conform to District guidelines.
  4. Ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community.
  5. Ability to be flexible as schedules and daily activities may change.
  6. Ability to operate all classroom equipment appropriately as required.
  7. Ability to work to implement the vision and mission of the District.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions

  1. Requires stooping bending kneeling turning and reaching.
  2. Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
  3. Must ocassionally work in noisy and crowded environments with numerous interruptions.

General Responsibilities

  1. Ability to prepare for classroom activities under the supervision of a licensed teacher.
  2. Ability to work with small groups of students to practice skills introduced by the teacher.
  3. Ability to assist individual children in need of special attention.
  4. Ability to perform duties as required.
  5. Ability to assist teacher with non-instructional classroom duties such as serving snack and assisting students with toileting and clothing routines.
  6. Ability to observe and follow all school district policies at all times.
  7. Ability to keep student and personnel information and records confidential.
  8. Ability to perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as directed by the Principal or Teacher.
