Job Description
Camp is seeking a qualified individual to teach primarily mathematics courses. Full-time faculty responsibilities include teaching the equivalent of 15 20 credit hours per semester which may include a mixture of day and night classes. Paul D. Camp Community College is a small 2-year college in Southeast Virginia. Campuses are located in Franklin and Suffolk. There also is a center in Smithfield. The college offers associate degrees certificates and career studies certificates in transfer and career/technical programs; credit and non-credit workforce services and training for businesses and industries; special interest classes for the community; and summer classes for youth through the Regional Workforce Development Center. A dual enrollment program for high school students online courses and developmental studies classes are available at the college as well. 1. Teaching: Creating a learning environment that facilitates students acquisition of knowledge and skills in a subject. Teaching encompasses four components: Instructional Design Instructional Delivery Instructional Effectiveness and Instructional Expertise. 2. Scholarly and Creative Engagement: Engage in scholarly and/or creative activity which may include conference attendance and presentation participation in professional organizations academic coursework scholarly research and publications and grant activity. 3. Institutional Responsibility: Performing assigned or presumed duties according to ones role at the college. These activities support and advance both the mission of the VCCS and the college to enhance the effective functioning of the college. These responsibilities include: participate in the colleges development and evaluation plan for part-time teaching faculty; participate in required department committee and college meetings; adhere to college and VCCS policies; perform assigned duties; and maintain a collegial working relationship with faculty and staff. 4. Service: Quality participation and commitment to students college and/or community organizations which is an expectation of ones activities as a professional educator. Activities in this domain are differentiated college representation college citizenship and community citizenship.
Work Schedule
Faculty teaching loads during the academic year (August 16 to May 15) is as needed by the institutions and shall include such combinations of on- and off- campus day evening distance learning and weekend classes. Fifteen-twenty (15-20) contact hours per semester are required for all full-time faculty as well as ten(10) student contact hours per week. Suffolk Franklin Smithfield campuses and online. May include work during the day evening or weekends as needed by the institution during the academic year.
