General Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated middle-level Math educator who is passionate about fostering a safe welcoming classroom environment so that students communicate innovative solutions and sense-making when engaged in standards-based design. The successful candidate will prioritize relationships data and student learning feedback to design instruction that meets the diverse needs of our learners. The successful candidate is collaborative committed to culturally and linguistically responsive instruction of which their instruction elevates students voices and experiences serious about student formative assessment data and comfortable taking risks to improve student learning. The successful candidate exhibits a deep understanding of the Oregon Math Standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Facilitate Learning Experiences aligned with the Oregon Math Standards emphasizing student competency in:
    • Algebraic Reasoning: Expressions and Equations;
    • Algebraic Reasoning: Functions;
    • Numeric Reasoning: Number and Quantity;
    • Developing understanding of and applying proportional relationships;
    • Developing understanding of operations with rational numbers and working with expressions and linear equations;
    • Solving problems involving scale drawings and informal geometric constructions and working with two- and three-dimensional shapes to solve problems involving area surface area and volume;
    • Drawing inferences about populations based on samples;
    • Formulating and reasoning about expressions and equations including modeling an association in bivariate data with a linear equation and solving linear equations and systems of linear equations;
    • Grasping the concept of a function and using functions to describe quantitative relationships; and
    • Analyzing two- and three-dimensional space and figures using distance angle similarity and congruence and understanding and applying the Pythagorean Theorem.
  • Build Meaningful Relationships with students to understand their strengths interests and growth areas creating a supportive classroom culture where risk-taking and creativity are celebrated.
  • Use Data & Feedback to inform instructional decisions including formative assessments student self-reflection and progress monitoring to continuously adjust instruction and support student success.
  • Create an Inclusive Learning Environment that reflects our schools commitment to safety kindness and responsibilitywhere all students feel valued and empowered to express themselves through Math practice application and innovation.
  • Facilitate Collaboration among students encouraging peer feedback and collaborative discourse about solution-seeking meaning-making and application of Math learning to real-world problems.
  • Manage Math resources responsibly while fostering student stewardship of our creative spaces.

Description:

To actively engage in or assist in the teaching of students leading them toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual physical emotional and psychological growth and maturation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Valid Oregon teacher license acceptable to Teacher Standards and Practices Commission for position assignment.
  2. Foundation Mathematics or Advanced Mathematics Endorsement Required.
  3. Demonstrated experience teaching Math to middle-grade students or experience working in schools preferred.
  4. Satisfactorily perform the requirements of the position as described in the job description.
  5. Possess the emotional and physical stamina to perform duties as required by the designated task except for temporary disability.

  • Professional development or training with integrating Math standards to statewide assessment blueprints.
  • Experience with Illustrative Math and other digital tools and technologies.
  • Experience supporting multilingual or diverse learner populations.
  • Strong knowledge of Math content and pedagogy aligned with national and state standards.
  • Commitment to student-centered teaching practices.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and foster a growth mindset.
  • Experience using data and formative assessment to guide instruction.

Essential Functions:

  1. Regular attendance and punctuality.
  2. Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
  3. Plans a program of study that as much as possible meets the individual needs interests and abilities of students.
  4. Make appropriate application of learning theory and employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with capabilities of the individuals of student groups involved.
  5. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and uses the identified student needs to plan instruction and maintains such records as required by law and by district policy.
  6. Takes all reasonable precautions to provide for health and safety of the students and to protect equipment material and facilities.
  7. Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with staff students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of students.
  8. Assists in determining and evaluating educational goals consistent with district philosophy and strives to implement those goals by instruction and action.
  9. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals objectives and methods and the development of district curriculum and its implementation in the classroom.
  10. Assists in the selection of books equipment and other instructional materials.
  11. Assists the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student conduct.
  12. Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
  13. Attends meetings and carries out co-curricular activities serves on school and district committees upon request.
  14. Strives to achieve professional growth through an ongoing program designed to supplement and enhance teacher ability.
  15. Supervises students in and out of classroom.
  16. Be familiar with respective building philosophy.
  17. Assist in preparing budget and instructional material requests for inclusion in the district budget.
  18. Attend all school assemblies held during the day unless excused by the principal.
  19. Carry out specifically assigned extra curricular program including chaperoning school social functions advise student activity groups class advisor and attendance during school functions.
  20. Be knowledgeable on state and federal laws and school district policies affecting curriculum and/or instruction in the classroom.
  21. Carry out any other duties assigned which are job related upon administrative request.
  22. Other duties as assigned.
