Job Summary
TITLE: Instructional Coach (Mathematics)
JOB GOALS:
- To assist and support in the design development and alignment of K-12 approved curricula and instructional programs.
- To support the delivery of the Aberdeen School Districts written taught tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.
- To ensure the reflection and communication of a positive image and attitude toward decisions and functions of the district as they relate to the public staff parents and students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Holds valid Mississippi teaching license.
- Has a minimum of six years successful teaching in the classroom.
- Demonstrates proficiency in oral and written communication.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the use of technology.
- Demonstrates proficiency in understanding MS Curriculum Frameworks/MS College and Career Readiness Standards.
- Demonstrates Proficiency in the application of the MS Accountability Model
- Evidence of documented proficiency and growth on universal screeners and/or MS Academic Assessment Programs.
- Demonstrates the ability to establish and maintain a positive rapport with students staff parents and the public.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Curriculum & Instruction Director/Principal
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists Curriculum & Instruction and Academic Team in organizing developing and coordinating the districts K-12 math and science curriculum design and delivery.
- Assists Curriculum & Instructionl and Academic Team in organizing developing coordinating and training K-12 school administrators and professional staff in areas related to the districts adopted curriculum Federal Programs and student assessment.
- Assists schools in implementing and utilizing technology in the classroom.
- Assists in tracking the success of district adopted instructional programs.
- Maintains high standards ethical behavior and confidentiality of student issues.
- Exemplifies strong work ethics and professionalism (i.e. promptness attendance and professional dress)
- Help improve instruction by engaging teachers in intensive professional development and promote a school-based professional learning community.
- Observe coach and mentor classroom teachers in effective practices-research based.
- Collect data analyze results and report findings as needed for federal and state reports.
- Evaluate student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate intervention and support services.
- Provide leadership for math literacy across the school community.
- Work closely with academic coaches to build the capacity of teachers in all aspects of the educational process.
- Assist in the preparation for state tests.
OTHER DUTIES:
Performs other duties as assigned by the Curriculum & Instruction Director.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The salary and length of contract shall be established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
