The Scheduler will work with various departments to monitor the organizations progress in meeting the production schedule. This position will proactively communicate and formulate alternative Production Plans when orders are at risk of not shipping on our precision machining environment the Master Scheduler builds finite-capacity schedules across CNC Swiss-type multi-spindle (Schütte) and Acme screw machines grinding and secondary/outside-processing operationssequencing work to minimize setups and changeovers while level-loading bottleneck work centers such as grinding and secondary operations
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute production plans consistent with customer requirements available capacity sales forecasts and corporate objectives sequencing jobs across machine groups (CNC Swiss multi-spindle and Acme screw machines) to level-load bottlenecks and minimize setup and changeover time.
- Drives continuous improvement in the overall planning process through lean and industry standard practices including setup reduction (SMED) right-sizing run quantities to amortize changeovers and grouping jobs by common tooling cams and collet families.
- Analyze production schedules on a regular basis collects data acquires feedback and develops action plans to recover from deviations which may involve raw material shortages vendor mishaps customer rushes and machine downtime as well as bar-stock and material-certification (heat-lot) delays outside-processing (heat treat plating passivation coating) lead times perishable-tooling shortages and inspection or quality holds.
- Monitors in-plant movement of materials to meet production cycle times coordinating the flow of parts through primary machining secondary operations and outside vendors.
- Prepare and present analysis on schedule status and overall performance to schedule including on-time delivery (OTD) past-due backlog and schedule attainment.
- Communicate with supervisors managers and cross functional staff to ensure internal and external customer needs are being met.
- Demonstrates a proactive and urgent sense to assist in customer order promising customer delivery difficulties and managing capacity constraints.
- Ensure manufacturing data is kept current in our ERP System including routings work-center capacities standard setup and run times and real-time job status.
- Understand outside processing (heat treatment plating passivation coating deburring) and build realistic vendor lead times into the master schedule.
- Plan bar-stock and raw-material requirements (steel brass stainless aluminum) and coordinate with Purchasing so material and required certifications are on hand ahead of scheduled setups.
- Manage tooling cam collet and fixture availability as active scheduling constraints flagging long-lead or perishable tooling needs before they impact the floor.
- Convert customer forecasts blanket purchase orders and releases into executable shop orders and firm up near-term schedules within frozen and slushy planning windows.
