Job Summary

The MAP Coordinator is responsible for the full teen volunteer experience including recruitment selection onboarding training scheduling supervision and communication. The MAP Coordinator works closely with the Volunteers Manager to develop curriculum and perform program evaluation.


The MAP Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for MAP participants and families and collaborates with the Volunteers Manager and Museum staff to ensure teens are effectively prepared and supported in their roles.

Duties & Responsibilities
1. Collaborates with the Volunteers Manager on the development and implementation of the MAP program ensuring it reflects CDMs mission values approach to all learners and current trends and opportunities in workforce development.

2. Develops and maintains the MAP curriculum in partnership with the Volunteers Manager facilitating training in life skills (soft skills) job skills (workforce development) and CDMs unique expertise. Creates achievement and accountability measures and ensures fidelity of use.

3. Leads the MAP recruitment and selection process including applications interviews selection and communication with prospective participants and families. Creates and maintains communication processes including training materials communication apps handbook etc.

4. Creates and communicates the annual MAP calendar and individual MAP schedules based on Museum needs teen availability program capacity and opportunities for meaningful participation.

5. Provides direct supervision and support to MAP participants during volunteer shifts Museum events outings trainings and other MAP activities.

6. Builds positive appropriate relationships with MAP participants and creates an environment that promotes belonging accountability confidence and personal growth.

7. Communicates regularly with MAP participants and their families regarding schedules expectations opportunities performance and program updates.

8. Holds MAP participants accountable to Museum policies procedures attendance expectations and standards of behavior while providing appropriate coaching and redirection. Ensures the Volunteer Center is guest-ready at all times.

9. Monitors teen participation attendance engagement and growth and maintains accurate MAP records.

10. Creates opportunities for MAP participants to provide feedback about their experience and uses that feedback to strengthen the program.

11. Uses volunteer management software and other technology to maintain MAP records communicate with participants manage schedules and track participation.

12. Collaborates with the Manager of Volunteers to ensure MAP systems policies scheduling and communication are aligned with the broader Volunteer Department. Communicates MAP needs successes concerns and opportunities to the Manager of Volunteers.

13. Backs up and supports Volunteer Manager in facilitating Adult and Group volunteers when needed.

14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities Required
Strong knowledge of adolescent development and youth leadership. Growing understanding of trends and opportunities in workforce development.
Demonstrated ability to build positive trusting appropriate relationships with teenagers.
Strong group facilitation classroom management and youth supervision skills. Ability to design and facilitate engaging training and leadership-development experiences.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage schedules records communication and multiple program priorities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with teens families staff and community partners.
Ability to provide clear expectations constructive feedback coaching and redirection.
Strong computer skills and ability to learn and use new software and technology.
High energy creativity and enthusiasm for working with teenagers.

Experience & Education Required
At least two years of experience leading or supervising teenagers in a structured setting such as a summer camp formal education program after-school program youth organization or faith-based program.

Bachelors degree in education youth development recreation nonprofit management social services or a related field preferred.

Demonstrated experience planning and implementing programs for teenagers.

Experience supervising mentoring or developing teen leaders.

Experience with volunteer programs or youth service-learning programs preferred.

Supervises
Museum Apprentice Program (MAP) participants during program activities volunteer shifts trainings outings and events.
Does not supervise staff.

Working Environment
Museum floor office environment and community sites with frequent interaction with teenagers and Museum guests.
Evening weekend and holiday work is required based on MAP activities and Museum needs.

Physical Demands
Extended periods of time on the busy Museum floor.
Some lifting and/or moving of supplies.
Work in off-site environments with ability to drive to community sites.
Ability to actively participate in activities with teens and children.
