What youll do:
SUMMARY:
TheManufacturing Engineer position is responsible for optimizing manufacturing andtroubleshooting production problems planning and designing manufacturingplant floor layouts to properly locate and co-ordinate equipment and materialfor efficient production. Additional responsibilities include but are notlimited to; preparing time studies project planning/management includingmanaging budgets supporting Production developing and maintaining systemsneeded to drive continuous improvement in areas of cost quality safety leadtime and use of working capital.
JOBRESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluate tools and equipment process options that will reduce cost in theoperation
Seek approval for investments in machinery and equipment that will improvemanufacturing / assembly operations
Produce engineering drawings for and design fixturing / tooling
Implement lean manufacturing principles such as visual controls pull inventorysystems within a process workplace organization and continuous improvement
Provide manufacturing technical support for production operations whichincludes tooling fixturing and process troubleshooting utilizing existingsystems and procedures as well as investigate new technologies methods andprocesses to improve existing operations
Monitor and correct safety / ergonomic issues
Support the CI (Continuous Improvement) team to develop and organize leanevents
Actively participate in the WOW (War On Waste) team or program and assist inthe implementation of WOW events
Support the NPI (New Product Introduction) process; evaluating new projects fortooling and equipment needs
Drive continuous improvement and eliminate waste in all manufacturingfacilities
Aid in workstation load balancing for all manufacturing areas
Verify review and implement torque specifications as well as high risk partspecifications
Track welder certifications and make necessary adjustments based onrequirements
Manage plant and campus layouts including but not limited to productionlines and stations office space parking lots and warehousing
Investigate problems determine root cause and implement corrective andpreventative actions by communicating with and assisting cross-functional teams(quality engineering production materials purchasing etcetera) to resolveissues
Read current literature talk with colleagues participate in educationalprograms attend workshops or participate in professional organizations orconferences to keep abreast of developments in the manufacturing field
Knowledge of SPS and core procedures

What you need to be successful:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical / Manufacturing / Industrial Engineering orrelated field
Minimumof 5 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education andexperience
Experience with working a low volume/high variation manufacturing operation
Proven ability to handle multiple projects meet deadlines manage andmaintain budgets
Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize work and stay on task
Innovative team player
Intermediate computer skills are required
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word Excel MS Project MSPowerPoint) and computer aided design systems (SolidWorks and AutoCADpreferred)
Good hands-on engineering skills and ability to work on production equipment
Sound judgment with the ability to make timely and sometimes difficultdecisions
Ability to work with some direction and be effective in a fast-pacedenvironment while being versatile flexible and willing to work withinconstantly changing priorities
Able to:
oEffectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
oUnderstand safety requirements and cautions
Strong:
oCommunication skills verbal and written
oInterpersonal skills
oOrganizational problem-solving and analytical skills
