Summary
Scientist I Formulation / Manufacturing Associate - Cell Culture works in a team-based environment to perform tasks related to the production of cellular-based products for research and commercial use in the life sciences industry. The role involves manufacturing products in a BSL-2 laboratory while following standard operating procedures utilizing laboratory techniques maintaining documentation supporting process improvements and ensuring product quality.
Responsibilities
- Manufacture products in a BSL-2 laboratory environment following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Utilize basic laboratory techniques calculations material measurements laboratory equipment and record keeping to manufacture products.
- Perform media and solution preparation.
- Maintain cell lines.
- Conduct small-scale shake flask production and large-scale bioreactor production.
- Perform cell harvest and cellular-based assays using aseptic techniques.
- Complete and maintain Batch Data Records notebooks customer reports and work order documentation.
- Make detailed observations analyze data and ensure processes remain within operating parameters.
- Notify management of factors affecting product quality and suggest corrective actions.
- Maintain equipment product inventories and related records.
- Document variances on manufacturing records.
- Audit and evaluate process documentation and propose revisions.
- Complete distribute and file records in accordance with Document Control Practices.
- Identify process issues report findings and participate in troubleshooting and resolution activities.
- Assist with modifying standard operating procedures and manufacturing batch records.
- Participate in process improvement projects to reduce process scrap or improve productivity.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Bachelors degree in Biology Chemistry Biochemistry or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant laboratory experience in a manufacturing environment or research laboratory or cell culture experience is highly desired.
- Proficiency in scientific laboratory techniques equipment and materials.
- Experience with basic laboratory techniques including:
- Media and solution preparation Cell expansion Transfection Maintaining cell linesAntibody production and Cellular assays
- Experience working with mammalian and insect cell lines.
- Ability to frequently lift up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods while performing duties.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules and hours as needed.
- Ability to work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials.
- Consistent dependable and accurate in carrying out responsibilities.
- Positive attitude toward work and team members.
- Ability to follow and provide direction accurately and efficiently.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
